We are down to the final four races in the 2024 MotoGP season, and the battle for the championship is almost certainly going to go all the way down to the wire.
The top 2 riders are separated by just 20 points, with both men continuing to stay hot down the stretch.

My Analysis of the Thailand MotoGP
This is almost certainly going to be a matter of who blinks first, as one poor race from either of the top 2 could send the championship in the other direction.
This weekend, the riders will be in Thailand for the next race on the schedule, and while all eyes will be on the two guys at the top, let’s not forget that any of the riders starting this race is capable of taking the checkered flag and having an impact on the championship battle.
Let’s take a look at the current top 4.
^Jorge Martin +149
Given that he has never won a championship at this level, a lot of fans are waiting for Martin to buckle under the pressure, but, if anything, he appears to be getting stronger as the season progresses.
Of the last 15 races, he has landed on the podium 13 times, and while he only has 2 wins during that stretch of races, the consistency of picking up points and staying ahead of the competition has allowed Martin to maintain his spot at the top of the rider standings.
He now heads to Thailand, where he won last season, so I think there is a good chance he wins again this weekend.
^Francesco Bagnaia +192
Coming into this season, Bagnaia very much looked like the man to beat after winning each of the last 2 world championships.
Bagnaia certainly started the season looking like he was going to cruise to his 3rd straight title, but failing to finish in 2 of the last 6 races has him sitting 20 points off the pace.
It is the races where a challenger is forced to retire that could prove to be the deciding factor in this battle.
If you look back at the last couple of seasons, Bagnaia has not won in Thailand, but he has been on the podium both times, so a top 3 pick seems the way to go here.
^Marc Marquez +214
When you look back at his career and see the number of world championships that Marquez has won over the years, you realize that he has nothing left to prove.
It would be easy for Marquez to rest on his laurels, but after a couple of years marred by injuries, the former champion looks to be getting close to his best again, although it has come a little too late for him to be considered a possible champion winner this season.
He has won 3 of the last 6 races, so I would certainly consider him for a top 3 finish this weekend.

Enea Bastianini +1525
At this late stage of the season, Bastianini is heading in the wrong direction, dropping a spot in the standings and allowing Marquez to pass him.
He is now on a 3-race streak where he has failed to crack the top 3, and when you look at his recent performances in Thailand, I think he is a risky bet this weekend.

2023 MotoGP Thailand
We are coming down to the wire in the current MotoGP season, with just 4 races remaining before a champion is crowned, although we could see the title wrapped up before we get to that final race of the year.
When: Sunday, October 29 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: Chang International Circuit
TV / Streaming: CNBC
While we do have a clear leader at this point, the lead is not so big as to be insurmountable. That said, the riders who are sitting off the pace need to make a move soon if this thing is to go all the way down to the wire. They will get their first chance to close that gap this weekend with the Thailand Grand Prix. Can one of the chasing pack close the gap this weekend, or are we going to see the current leader take one step closer to the title? Let’s take a look the MotoGP betting picks at the current top 4 in the standings.
Odds to Win MotoGP Thailand | |

Francesco Bagnaia | -202 |
Jorge Martin | +143 |
Marco Bezzecchi | +42000 |
Brad Binder | +20000 |
Francesco Bagnaia
After winning Moto2 in his final season, Bagnaia moved on up to MotoGP and struggled through his opening 2 seasons at the top level. That changed in 2021, when he took a run at the World Championship, coming up just short with a 2nd place finish. He sealed the deal last season, winning his first championship and is now on the brink of a repeat. As it stands at the moment, Bagnaia has a 27-point lead at the top of the standings, so he still has some work to do to complete the repeat. He finished 3rd in Thailand last year and would likely settle for another podium finish this time around.

Jorge Martin
After a run that saw Martin land on the podium in 4 straight races, including a pair of wins, he has cooled off just a little over the last 2. He failed to finish in Indonesia, following that one up with a 5th place run in Australia. Those two results have cooled his championship bid a little, but he is still very much in the hunt to win it all this season. He needs to be on that podium again and finish ahead of Bagnaia to keep the pressure on, and with a 9th place finish in this race last season, a top 3 finish is certainly not guaranteed.

Marco Bezzecchi
Bezzecchi has 3 wins already this season, but he also has had periods where points have proven a little tougher to come by. He is in one of those periods at the moment, failing to land on the podium in 3 straight races after winning in India. Those 3 races have stalled the progress he made with his last win, and he is now 73 points out of the lead. While still mathematically in this thing, he needs an awful lot of things to go his way over the final 4 races of the season. He failed to crack the top 10 in Thailand last season but expect much better this time around.

Brad Binder
Given that we are essentially now looking at a 2-horse race for the World Championship, you can already guess that Binder is out of the running. He only has 2 wins in almost 4 full seasons with MotoGP, so if you are thinking of betting on him this weekend, I would suggest you look at a top 5 finish at best. He finished 10th in Thailand last season.
