Top Boxing Events – Josh Taylor in Action on Saturday to Defend Multiple Titles

Guillermo Rigondeaux -1000 vs Vincent Astrolabio +500

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 26

Future boxing hall of famer Guillermo Rigondeaux hopes to get back on the winning track in Dubai when he takes on Vincent Astrolabio a massive favorite.

The bout is for the WBCI Bantamweight Title. Rigondeaux is 20-2 with 3 knockout wins. Astrolabio is a decent boxer. But he doesn’t have enough experience to take down of the sport’s greats. Rigondeaux wins.

Boxing Pick: Guillermo Rigondeaux

Eric Donovan +750 vs Robeisy Ramirez -1600

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 26
  • Glasgow, Scotland – ESPN+

Ireland’s Eric Donovan sports a 14-1 record with 8 knockout victories. After a loss to Zelfa Barrett in 2020 via 8th round KO, Donovan has bounced back with 2 straight wins.

But Donovan is in tough versus Robeisy Ramirez. The southpaw has won eight straight. In his last, Ramirez easily beat then 17-0 Orlando Gonzalez Ruiz via unanimous decision. Ramirez should end Donovan’s night early. So look for a knockout prop.

Boxing Pick: Robeisy Ramirez

Jack Catterall +650 vs Josh Taylor -1500

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 26
  • WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF Junior Welterweight Titles

26-0 Jack Catterall has won 13 of his fights via knockout or technical knockout. No doubt, Catterall is a good boxer. But on Saturday, he faces one of the best in the world.

Although Josh Taylor is just 18-0, look at who the champ has beaten? When Taylor beat Jose Carlos Ramirez last May, the challenger was 26-0. Taylor easily handled Ramirez, knocking him down in the sixth and the seventh.

Again, Catterall is a good fighter. But he faces one of the world’s best in Taylor. Josh wins and he might win via KO.

Boxing Pick: Josh Taylor

Gary Antuanne Russell -750 vs Viktor Postol +425

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 26
  • Las Vegas, Nevada – Showtime

It’s going to be very difficult for Postol to pay attention to Russell on Saturday night. The Russians have invaded his country, Ukraine.

Even if Postol wasn’t worried about his family in Ukraine, he’d be up against it versus Gary Antuanne Russell. The 5’ 10” southpaw is 14-0 with 14 knockout wins. Russell should win this by decision because knocking out Postol is difficult for anyone to accomplish. So if you can find better odds on Russell via decision, that’s the play to make.

Boxing Pick: Gary Antuanne Russell

Fernando Daniel Martinez +400 vs Jerwin Ancajas -600

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 26
  • IBF World Super Flyweight Title

Jerwin Ancajas steps back into the ring to defend his IBF World Super Flyweight Title against 13-0 Fernando Martinez.

Martinez is a good boxer. But it’s asking a lot for a fighter with 13 bouts to beat a champion that’s 33-1 with 22 knockout or technical knockout victories. Ancajas’ loss happened way back in 2012, almost a decade ago. Fernando Martinez might one day win a championship belt. But it won’t be on Saturday night versus Ancajas.

Boxing Pick: Jerwin Ancajas
