The reigning champs started their Serie A season off with a fantastic 4-0 victory against Genoa. What impressed most is that last season’s striker, Romelu Lukaku, now plays for Chelsea. Lautaro Martinez didn’t play against Genoa either and Inter didn’t miss a beat. Hellas should have trouble hanging with the champs.

- When: Saturday, Aug. 28
In their first match, Serie A contender Atalanta bested Torino 2-1. On Aug. 22, Bologna beat Salernitana 3-2. The odds make it impossible to back Bologna. Although they scored 3 goals, they gave up a couple to Salernitana in their last. Atlanta can beat the road squad by 2 or more.

Facing 2020 Serie B squad Empoli, Lazio showed they’re ready to challenge Inter for the Serie A title. The home team in this dominated overmatched Empoli 3-0. Spezia beat Pordenone Calcio 3-1 in an Italian Coppola match in their last. Spezia could keep this to within a goal. But the odds make Lazio the play.

- When: Saturday, Aug. 28
Neither team impressed in their first Serie A matches. Torino fell 1-2 versus Atalanta while AS Roma blasted Fiorentina 3-1. These two drew in the last head-to-head. Although both offer decent odds, these two are too close to determine if either wins in regulation. Backing the draw makes the most sense.

In their first Serie A match, Juventus didn’t play great. But Juvy did score a couple of goals in the draw with Udinese. Empoli is a much worse team than Udinese, which is why Juventus should cover the handicap.

On Aug. 23, AC Milan beat Sampdoria 1-0. Cagliari drew 2-2 with Spezia on the same day. Cagliari and AC drew 0-0 in the last head-to-head. Although another draw is possible, we must believe AC Milan is better this season than they were last season. Give the home team the benefit of the doubt.
