TIER 1: The Favorites

Winnipeg Blue Bombers: +115

There is not much to say at this point in the year. This is the best team in the CFL. Will they three-peat? Likely. But they have proven to show some weakness with their two poor losses. Still, they are likely to win the Grey Cup yet again. 

Calgary Stampeders: +400

A little controversy in the west? While the Stamps are in second in the division, they have yet to beat Winnipeg this year. They are the second-best team in Canadian football, but there is uncertainty they can get over this hump. 

Toronto Argonauts: +450

This is the most overrated pick. Their odds will likely tumble this week if you seek to put money on them. While they are ranked number 1 in the east, it seems unlikely they will cruise their way through the postseason, let alone make the grey cup.

TIER 2: Middle of the Pack

B.C Lions: +475

The west is getting tough to beat. After their loss to Calgary, it makes it very difficult to pick this club because that is a TRUE playoff-caliber opponent. 

Montréal Alouettes: +850

The best bet right now has to be Montréal. They always manage to turn heads in a lot of games they have played. Having key wins over the Blue Bombers makes them a great bet for the Grey Cup. 

Saskatchewan Roughriders: +1400

They seem to continue to fade in the eyes of the bettor. This is due to poor play, which has been more prevalent than good play. Whilst they possess value, there is good reason to veer away from them. 

TIER 3: Bottom Feeders

Ottawa Redblacks: +30000 and Hamilton Tiger-Cats: +5500, and Edmonton Elks: +40000

Need much be said here? These teams CAN NOT WIN! Do not get cute with your money and bet on any of these three teams. Might as well bet on the Commanders to win the Super Bowl! Not going to happen, so do not bet on it. 

Week 18 Best Bets

Saskatchewan Roughriders (+2.5) vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats

The Tiger-Cats somehow managed to be the favorite in this match. Even with the inconsistent play, the Roughriders, when fully healthy, could easily maul this team! The sack party will be present in hammer town this week.

Ottawa Redblacks vs Montréal Alouettes (-7) 

The Alouettes will tear it up on Thanksgiving for a postseason spot at home. The Redblacks present a very poor matchup against the Alouettes; Against this familiar foe, the Alouettes should have a fantastic outing and clinch their postseason spot yet again!

Toronto beat Ottawa on the road earlier this season by the insane score of 46-17. Despite giving up just over four points per game more than their opponents in this matchup, Toronto is the pick to get the win in this one. The Argonauts are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss while Ottawa is 1-5 ATS in their last six games following an SU loss.

Saskatchewan Roughriders (10-4) at Calgary Stampeders (7-8)

Saskatchewan has won two straight and come into this contest off a 21-6 win over Winnipeg the last time out. Calgary had their four-game winning streak snapped in last weekend’s 21-17 road loss against Montreal. While the Stampeders did record an emphatic 37-10 upset win over the Roughriders, I like Saskatchewan to extract some serious revenge in this contest because they are the statistically better team on both sides of the ball. Saskatchewan has gone 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up win while Calgary has gone 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss.

Pick: Saskatchewan 27 Calgary 24

Montreal Alouettes (8-6) at Winnipeg Blue Bombers (9-6)

When: Saturday October 12, 2019, 4:00 PM ET
Where: IG Field, Winnipeg, Canada

Montreal has won two of their last three games and comes into this contest off a 23-17 home win over Calgary the last time out. Winnipeg has dropped three straight including a convincing 21-6 road loss against Saskatchewan last weekend. Montreal recorded a narrow 38-37 win over Winnipeg earlier this season, but I like the Blue Bombers to get some revenge in this one to keep their playoff hopes right where they want them to be. I know the Alouettes have gone an impressive 12-3 ATS in their last 15 road games, but Winnipeg has gone 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games. This one should be a thriller.

Pick: Winnipeg 33 Montreal 30

BC Lions (5-10) at Edmonton Eskimos (7-8)

When: Saturday October 12, 2019, 7:00 PM ET
Where: Commonwealth Stadium, Edmonton, Alberta
CFL Week 18 Odds: BC -2.5 / Total: 45

British Columbia is playing their best football of the season at just the right time, having won four straight games including a jaw-dropping 55-8 blowout of Toronto the last time out. Edmonton has lost five of their last six games and comes into this contest off an embarrassing 42-12 smackdown loss against Hamilton the last time out. Edmonton might be playing at home and they might have a better record in this matchup, but I like the red-hot BC Lions to extend their winning ways in week 18. BC has gone 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games while Edmonton has gone 0-4 ATS in their last four home games. BC wins and covers the chalk!

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Toronto Argonauts

Hamilton put it all together in their last, a 40-17 win over the British Columbia Lions. The Tiger-Cats held a 30-3 halftime lead before pushing the lead to 40-3. They called off the favorites in the fourth quarter.

Unlike Hamilton finally figuring it out, Toronto hasn’t gotten on track this season. The Argonauts head into this game on a 6 game losing streak. They’ve gone 2-4 ATS in those 6 games.

Hamilton should cover.

CFL Week 16 Pick: Hamilton Tiger-Cats ATS

Saturday, Oct. 13

Saskatchewan Rough Riders at Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Saskatchewan’s played great in the past 7 weeks. Their only loss was a 25-30 game to East Division leading Ottawa on Sep. 15. But, although Saskatchewan has played great to win games in their last 7, they haven’t played well enough to cover the spread.

The Rough Riders are only 5-3 ATS in those 8 games.  They’re 1-3 ATS in their last 4. A couple of wins and covers against Winnipeg must be carefully studied because Saskatchewan didn’t blow out the Blue Bombers in either game.

It feels like Winnipeg gets the job done on Saturday. The Blue Bombers are good enough to beat the Rough Riders straight up and cover the spread.

CFL Week 16 Pick: Winnipeg Blue Bombers ATS

Ottawa RedBlacks at Edmonton Eskimos

On Sep. 22, Ottawa beat Edmonton 28-15. The RedBlacks are only 2-3 SU in their last 5, though, and should have trouble against the Eskimos on Saturday.

Edmonton allows 23.8 points per game. Opponents average 360 yards per versus the Eskimos. Unless Ottawa’s defense can match Edmonton’s intensity the Eskimos should win straight up and cover.

Ottawa got into a shootout with Winnipeg in their last. Now, they must switch gears and win a defensive struggle. Hard to see that happening.

CFL Week 16 Pick: Edmonton Eskimos ATS

British Columbia Lions at Calgary Stampeders

Calgary battles British Columbia about a week after it took on the Montreal Alouettes. The Alouettes pushed Calgary. The Stampeders only beat Montreal 12-9.

Calgary’s the best team in CFL, but they don’t always cover the spread. Although the SU record is 12-2, the record against the spread is 8-6. Calgary will win. They won’t cover against a BC Lions team looking for two solid performances in a row after a 26-23 win over Toronto on Oct. 6.
