This college football season has been a season full of surprises. With numerous upsets and lots of movement within the Top 10, we’re not sure what’s going to happen next. Although this week’s slate of games will see very few ranked teams facing each other, we’re still sure that we’ll see an upset or two. Let’s take a look at some of this weekend’s contests, and we’ll give you our NCAAF betting predictions.
Expert Predictions for Week 8 of the 2021 College Football Season
#5 Ohio State Buckeyes (-19) @ Indiana Hoosiers
The Buckeyes had a bye last weekend, so they’ll have had two weeks to prepare for Indiana. The Hoosiers had chances to upset Michigan State last weekend, but they just couldn’t catch a break when they needed it.
The Buckeyes are putting up huge offensive numbers. Since losing to Oregon in Week 2 of the season, they seem to be a team on a mission. Indiana will likely be without Michael Penix Jr. for this one.
The Buckeyes are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six road games, while the Hoosiers are 0-4 against the spread in their last four games. The Buckeyes are on a roll, and we don’t know if anyone in the Big 10 can stop them. Indiana hangs around for a while, but the Buckeyes end up winning by 28.
South Carolina Gamecocks @ #21 Texas A&M Aggies (-18.5)
The Gamecocks barely beat Vanderbilt over the weekend, while the Aggies dominated Missouri. Texas A&M has had two good weeks in a row, beating Alabama and then Missouri. South Carolina is one of the weakest teams in the SEC. Shane Beamer is trying to rebuild a program, and he’s taking his lumps along the way.
The Gamecocks are 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 games, while the Aggies are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10. Texas A&M was predicted to be a force in the SEC this season. After hitting a couple of speed bumps along the way, it looks like they’ve finally figured things out. They’ll continue to play well against South Carolina and will win by 21, covering the spread on their way to another win.
Tennessee Volunteers @ #4 Alabama Crimson Tide (-27.5)
Tennessee lost a home battle with Ole Miss, while the Crimson Tide went on the road to Mississippi State and thoroughly dominated Mike Leach’s squad, 49-9. After losing to Texas A&M, the Tide looked like a team that had something to prove against Mississippi State. Their defense was dominant, and they found numerous ways to score. The Bulldogs never had a chance.
27.5 points may seem like a lot, but when we looked at the numbers, they all seemed to be pointing in Alabama’s favor. First off, Alabama has covered the spread in four of its last five games with the Volunteers. Tennessee is 2-8 against the spread in its last 10 games against an opponent with a winning record. Alabama is 10-2 against the spread in its last 12 games at home.
All signs point towards Alabama winning this one and covering, and we’re going to follow the signs. Alabama wins this one 45-14.
