2020 UFC Rumors & Betting News October 12th Edition

Written by on October 12, 2020

Before we start jumping into the weekly news in the world of MMA, we need to take a moment to talk about UFC Fight Island 5. We will get into some of the ramifications from the results in that event soon enough, but we have to take a moment to talk about the highlight of the night. If you have not yet seen the spinning KO kick from Joaquin Buckley, you need to do yourself a favor and go look it up right now. It is arguably the greatest KO we have seen in the UFC, with that move basically overshadow everything else that happened on Fight Island over the weekend. With that being said, let’s have a look at the latest MMA rumors and news out there so you can wager on their UFC odds.

2020 MMA Betting News & Rumors Update Oct. 12th Edition

The headline bout of the weekend saw Marlon Moraes and Cory Sandgahen go head to head in a huge bantamweight bout. It was Sandhagen who came out on top in the second round, but Moraes, speaking after the fight, suggested that the referee stopped things a little too quickly. After being knocked down by a kick, Moraes was taking a beating on the mat, but he claimed to be alert and ready to fight back when the ref stepped in. It’s a backward step for Moraes, but he says he would like another fight sometime in December as he looks to climb back.

After his win, Cory Sandhagen was realistic about his chances of facing bantamweight champion Peter Yan. Sandhagen is of the belief that Alijamain Sterling deserves the next crack at the champ, but he also stressed that he would happily take the title shot if presented with the opportunity. For now, though, he is looking ahead to his next potential fight, assuming he does not get that shot. Sandhagen suggested that he would like a fight with either Frankie Edgar or T.J. Dillashaw next. Watch this space to see how all of this plays out.

We have a rumor coming out of the women’s flyweight division, with word being that we may well have a big fight to look forward to in January of new year. It is believed that a pair of top 10 fighters will go head to head next January, with Roxanne Modafferi and Viviane Araujo preparing to do battle. This would certainly be an outstanding matchup if the details can be worked out. Again, this is nothing more than a rumor at the moment, but we will definitely keep you up to date as this story develops.

This coming weekend, it will be another round of bouts at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, with 5 fights scheduled on the main card. It is a featherweight bout between Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung that will serve as the headliner. We will have a breakdown of all the main card fights later this week, so be on the lookout for that.
