UFC 230 Odds & Expert Picks

Written by on November 2, 2018

Daniel Cormier battles Derrick Lewis in the UFC 230 main event on Saturday, Nov. 3. Lewis versus Cormier should be a fantastic matchup, but the UFC 230 main undercard provides plenty of other great battles. Former champ Chris Weidman takes on Ronaldo Souza while Derek Brunson throws down against Israel Adasanya. Also on the main undercard are Jack Marshman versus Karl Roberson and Jared Cannonier versus David Branch. Let’s take a closer look at the latest UFC 230 odds for this Saturday.

UFC 230 Odds & Expert Picks

  • When:  Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7:00 pm ET
  • Where:  Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
  • TV: PPV
  • Live Stream: UFC Fight Pass

Derrick Lewis +470 vs Daniel Cormier -640

Huge longshot Derrick Lewis beat Alexander Volkov on the Khabib vs McGregor undercard and now finds himself throwing down against Daniel Cormier for the championship. Lewis has a decent 21-5 record, but he only fought last month while the single loss on Cormier’s record was to Jon Jones, arguably the greatest UFC fighter in history.

Does Lewis have any shot? Probably not. Cormier can force Lewis to the ground where he’s got a huge edge with his Olympic style wrestling. Or, he could beat Lews in the stand-up because he’s got faster hands.

UFC 230 Pick: Daniel Cormier -640

Chris Weidman -185 vs Ronaldo Souza +155

Weidman versus Souza could be the most competitive fight on the UFC 230 card. Weidman got back on the winning track after his loss to Gegard Mousasi at UFC 210 with a win over Kevin Gastelum at UFC Fight Night on July 22.

Ronaldo Souza beat Derek Brunson at UFC Fight Night on January 27 earlier this year. In his last, at UFC 224 in May, Kevin Gastelum beat Souza via split decision. Souza has a better shot to beat Weidman than the odds imply, though.

He’s the pick in what should be a much more competitive battle than what the odds show.

UFC 230 Pick: Ronaldo Souza +155

Derek Brunson +245 vs Israel Adasanya -305

Undefeated Israel Adasanya faces a major test against 15-6 Derek Brunson in what could be another top battle at UFC 230. Adasanya won the Ultimate Fighter over Brad Tavares. He looked great winning that fight.

This is a big step up. Brunson’s got speedy hands and can hit with power. However, Ronaldo Souza knocked out Brunson in Round 1 in January. Brunson hasn’t fought since then while Adasanya is eager.

Israel will keep his undefeated record intact.

UFC 230 Pick: Israel Adasnya -305

Jack Marshman +225 vs Karl Roberson -275

Karl Roberson had been undefeated until Cezar Ferreira submitted him in Round 1 at UFC 224 on May 12. Roberson has a decent ground game but his real skills are in the stand up where he uses his immense athleticism to dominate his opponents.

Because Marshman’s lost 2 of his last 3, Roberson’s the guy to back in what could be an interesting matchup, but most likely will end with either Marshman tapping out or getting knocked out.

UFC 230 Pick: Karl Roberson -275

Jared Cannonier +285 vs David Branch -355

It’s tough to look past the chalk again because David Branch faces a fighter that’s much less experienced than the fighters he’s battled in his last couple. Luke Rockhold beat Branch via Round 2 KO at UFC Fight Night on Sep. 17, 2017.

In Branch’s last, he beat Thiago Santos via Round 1 KO at UFC Fight Night on April 21 this year. Branch should have no trouble getting the “W” over Cannonier on Nov. 3. UFC 230 Pick: David Branch
