Expert MMA Betting Predictions for UFC 225

Written by on June 7, 2018

The MMA betting action heads to Chicago this coming Saturday, June 9 for UFC 225, and it will feature a main card that delivers 5 very good looking bouts. The headliner is a beauty, with Robert Whittaker defending his belt against Yoel Romero. We will get to that fight later in this piece, but it is certainly worth taking a look at the other 4 fights on the main card, as there are some really good ones in there, too. We will deliver a quick breakdown of all the fights on the main card, mixing in some UFC 225 odds analysis and predictions.

Expert MMA Betting Predictions for UFC 225

  • When: June 9, 2018
  • Where: Chicago, Illinois
  • Venue: United Center

CM Punk vs. Mike Jackson

  • MMA Betting Odds: CM Punk +190 / Mike Jackson -230
Let’s be honest, this is a bit of an odd match-up. CM Punk made his name in the wrestling ring but decided that he wanted to give the MMA a shot. Given that he is a known name, it made financial sense to give him a try in the Octagon, where he was soundly beaten in his opening fight. Mike Jackson is also a relative newbie, losing his only bout in the UFC, ironically to the same opponent who beat Punk. It’s really tough to know which way to go here given the lack of experience, but I am going to side with Jackson, who I believe will get another UFC shot with the win.

Andrei Arlovski vs. Tai Tuivasa

  • MMA Betting Odds: Andrei Arlovski +210 / Tai Tuivasa -260
The second fight on the main card gets us back into the serious business of the UFC. Arlovski comes into this one with a career record of 29-15, and while over 60% of those wins have come via KO, he also has some decent takedown and wrestling skills. He is going to need to put those to use against the 9-0 Tuivasa, who has won all 9 of his fights via KO. Tuivasa is going to want to stand in the middle of the ring and box, and that is a fight that Arlovski does not want to get drawn into. I think this one might be over quickly, with Tuivasa remaining unbeaten.

Holly Holm vs. Megan Anderson

  • MMA Betting Odds: Holly Holm -220 / Megan Anderson +180
Holm comes into this one with an 11-4 record, but she is a fighter on a poor run of form, as she has now lost 4 of her last 5, the latest of which came at the hands of Cris Cyborg. Holm rose to fame after beating Ronda Rousey, but she did not hold on to that featherweight title very long. She will have another tough one here against Megan Andrson, a fighter who is on a 4-bout winning streak and who is quietly rising up the ranks. Her career record now sits at 8-2. My money is on Anderson in this one.

Rafael Dos Anjos vs. Colby Covington

  • MMA Betting Odds: Rafael Dos Anjos -125 / Colby Covington +105
This looks like being one of the best fights on the main card. Dos Anjos comes in with a 28-9 record and is a fighter on a good run of form. You need to go all the way back to 2016 to find the last time he came out on the losing end of a fight. Rafael Dos Anjos is not a safe MMA Betting pick for UFC 225. Covington is 13-1 and is an extremely dangerous fighter, which he proved in his last outing, an impressive win over Demian Maia. That victory extended Covington’s win streak to 5 fights, and I think there is a very good chance that he makes it 6 here.

Robert Whittaker vs. Yoel Romero

  • MMA Betting Odds: Robert Whittaker -225 / Yoel Romero +185
This will be the second meeting for these two fighters, with the first one going the way of Whittaker by decision, a win that earned him the interim Middleweight Title. Whittaker now has the title outright and will look to improve upon his 20-4 record this weekend. Given that these two went the distance the last time they met, we can expect that the 13-2 Romero will give the champ all he can handle. I think this one goes the distance, and I also think we get the same result as last time.
