UFC Fight Night: Holm Vs Aldana Expert Analysis

UFC Fight Night: Holm Vs Aldana Expert Analysis

Written by on October 2, 2020

This coming Saturday night, we head back to Abu Dhabi for another round of Fight Island, which will feature a smaller main card than we have become used to in the UFC. In all, there will be 4 fights on the main card, with the Holm versus Aldana bout serving as the headliner. That said, while the UFC official website is showing just 4 fights, some other places have the bout between Kyler Phillips and Cameron Else as being on the main card. We will add a preview and prediction for that fight on here, just in case you guys want to get in on the betting for that one. Without further ado, let’s take a closer look at these 5 fights, along with their UFC odds.

UFC Fight Night: Holm Vs Aldana | MMA Betting

Kyler Phillips (-495) Vs Cameron Else (+370)

Let’s get the ball rolling with a featherweight bout between a pair of fighters trying to move up the ranks in a very talented division. This will be the second fight under the UFC banner for Phillips, who opened his account with a UD win over Gabriel Silva. Else is on a solid run of form, having won each of his last 6 fights, with all of those wins coming in the opening round. This will be his first fight in the UFC, and it will be much more of a challenge. I am taking Phillips to win by decision.

Dequan Townsend (+255) Vs Dusko Todorovic (-330)

Next up is a rather interesting middleweight bout that features a pair of fighters at different stages of their careers. Townsend has been around a long time, posting a 21-11 career mark along the way. He has bounced around a bit, but he has found life in the UFC to be tough, losing all 3 of his fights there. Todorovic is younger, hungrier, and comes into this fight with a perfect 9-0 record. I don’t think he will be too worried about this being his first UFC fight, as I like Todorovic for the KO win.

Germaine De Randamie (-145) Vs Julianna Pena (+115)

The women’s bantamweight division is loaded, with several fighters looking for a shot at the title, including these two. Germain De Randamie comes into this fight looking to bounce back after a UD loss to Amanda Nunes in her last fight. That defeat snapped a 5-fight win streak and took her to 9-4. Pena is ranked #4 and is on a very similar trajectory as her opponent. She is 9-3 as a pro and has won 7 of her last 8, with the lone defeat in that stretch coming against Valentina Shevchenko. I am taking De Randamie to win by decision.

Yorgan De Castro (-245) Vs Carlos Felipe (+205)

It’s the heavyweights up in the penultimate fight of the night, with both of these big men looking to bounce back after a loss. De Castro opened up his UFC account with an opening round KO of Justin Tafa, but he saw his unbeaten record come to an end with a loss to Greg Hardy by decision last time out. Felipe had won 8-straight fights to start his career before moving to the UFC and losing by decision to Sergey Spivak. I do not see this one going the distance, as I like De Castro to win by KO.

Holly Holm (-125) Vs Irene Aldana (-105)

The winner of this bantamweight bout will most likely get a shot at the title in their next fight, so this one is huge. Holm had that shot a couple of bouts ago, losing in the opening round against Amanda Nunes, but she did bounce back nicely with a UD win over Raquel Pennington. Aldana comes into this bout on a hot run of form, winning 5 of her last 6 fights, with the lone loss in that stretch coming in a controversial split decision versus Pennington. I think this one goes the distance, with Aldana getting the win.
