MMA Betting Preview & Picks for UFC Fight Night 129

Written by on May 18, 2018

MMA Betting fans who can’t afford to get into the UFC pay per view events are in for a treat this coming Saturday, May 19. FS1 will be showing UFC Fight Night 129 live, with no less than 6 big fight set to go on the main card, with all the action beaming in from Santiago, Chile. The action begins at 7 PM EST on Saturday night, which gives us plenty of time to preview the fights and make some predictions based on the latest MMA Odds, so let’s get right to it.

MMA Betting Preview & Picks for UFC Fight Night 129

Vicente Luque (-210) vs. Chad Laprise (+175)

Make sure to tune in for the start of this event, as this bout may prove to be the pick of the bunch. Expect a ton of fireworks here, because both of these guys like to throw down. A 4-inch reach advantage may give Luque (12-6-1) a bit of an advantage here, but he is also comfortable wrestling on the mat. Laprise comes in with a 14-2 record and some serious punching power. Luque would appear to have the edge in a fight that will likely go all 3 rounds.

Veronica Macedo (+245) vs. Andrea Lee (-305)

Don’t expect the frenzied action to carry over into this bout, as both of these women are more comfortable grappling than standing toe to toe. While Macedo is 6-1-1 in her career, she has only won 2 of her last 4, with a loss and a draw also in there. Lee comes in at 8-2, with half of her wins coming via submission. That gives lee a distinct advantage if this fight goes as expected.

Diego Rivas (-170) vs. Guido Cannetti (+145)

This is perhaps the most evenly matched pairing of the night, and the dominant fighting style is what is likely to decide this one. Rivas is all about getting his opponent on the ground, and he does so with stunning accuracy. That is the key to victory, especially when you consider that all 3 fights that Cannetti has lost in his career have come via submission. You need to give the edge to Rivas in this bout.

Jared Cannonier (+205) vs. Dominick Reyes (-255)

If it’s explosive action that you are after, then this is another bout that you need to tune into. Cannonier is 10-3 but has been on a bit of an inconsistent run in his recent matches. He needs to flash his superior kickboxing skills here against up and coming star Reyes, who is still unbeaten in 8 career fights. Reyes can really move up the rankings with a big win here, which is exactly what I think he will do.

Alexa Grasso (+535) vs. Tatiana Suarez (-775)

I have been playing the chalk all the way through my UFC picks here thus far, but I sense an upset on the cards here. Grasso, who is 10-1, is going to definitely try to get Suarez (6-0) on the mat, which could lead to a great wrestling match, as Suarez has won 5 of her fights by submission. Despite being the underdog, Alexa Grasso should be one of your MMA Betting picks for UFC Fight Night 129. This could very well prove to be the best technical fight on the card, and I am going with the big underdog here.

Damian Maia (+500) vs. Kamara Usman (-700)

This is another bout where much of the action is likely going to take place on the ground. Maia, who is 25-8 in his career, was once in the mix for a title challenge, and a win here would help him get back there. That is easier said than done against Usman, who is a perfect 7-0 (11-1 overall) since joining the UFC. This one look set to go all the way, and I like Usman as my MMA Betting pick.
