We tend to take our Saturday nights for granted, as we expect a new event from the UFC every single week. It’s no surprise that MMA fans miss the action when the UFC shuts down for a few weeks over the holiday season, so it’s exciting to see it return with another Fight Night this weekend. It is a very solid card that the UFC has put together for the first event of 2022. We have a 6-fight main card to look forward to, so let’s check out the UFC odds and make some predictions.
MMA Betting Preview for UFC Fight Night: Kattar Vs Chikadze
Joanderson Brito (-135) Vs Bill Algeo (+105)
The main card kicks off with a Featherweight bout that appears to be rather evenly matched. You need to go all the way back to 2016 to find the last time Brito lost a fight. He is 12-2-1 and making his first UFC appearance. Algeo has more experience at this level, but not a ton of success, going 1-2 under the UFC banner. I think this will be a winning debut for Brito.
Dakota Bush (+155) Vs Viacheslav Borshchev (-190)
It’s a pair of Lightweights up next, with both looking for their first win in the UFC. This will be the second attempt for Bush, who came up short in his UFC debut, falling to 8-3 in the process. After starting his pro career with a 5-1 record, Borshchev is getting a shot at the UFC, and I like him to continue rolling with a KO win in this one.
Katlyn Chookagian (-185) Vs Jennifer Maia (+155)
The women are up next for a Flyweight bout that is also a rematch. Chookagian won the previous meeting back in 2019. She has an impressive 16-4 record and has won 3 of her last 5. Maia comes in at 19-7-1, but she has had a tough time putting together consecutive wins of late. I like this one to go the distance and Chookagian to win again.
Brandon Royval (-170) Vs Rogerio Bontorin (+140)
We have a Flyweight bout up next and a pair of fighters looking to get back into winning form. Royval is 12-6, but he is on the slide at the moment, losing each of his last 2 fights. Bontorin snapped out of a 2-fight skid with a win last time out, going to 17-3 in the process. This should be a good one, and I have Royval winning by submission.
Chase Sherman (+100) Vs Jake Collier (-130)
The big boys step into the octagon for a Heavyweight bout that serves as the co-main event of the night. Sherman is in need of a win after losing 2 in a row to see his record fall to 15-8. Things have not been much better for Collier, who has lost 3 of his last 5 outings. Expect to see fists fly and this one finish early, with Sherman getting the KO win.
Calvin Kattar (+205) Vs Giga Chikadze (-245)
Both of these men are in the top 10 in the Featherweight division, with the winner taking a step closer to a potential title fight. Kattar has been up and down of late, going 2-2 in his last 4 fights. Chikadze is rolling and comes into this bout on a 9-fight win streak. I like him to extend that run and would not be surprised to see him get the KO win.
I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
