Last Tuesday, the College Football Playoff Committee delivered their first rankings of the season, with many fans thinking they got several things wrong. This week should be a little more in line with what most of us believe, as the top 4 teams in the AP Poll are all sitting at 10-0. The one thing that we know for sure is that the top 4 is not going to stay as it is now, as we still have Michigan and Ohio State facing one another in the final week of the season. Those two are currently in the top 4, so you can almost guarantee that one of them might drop out. For the teams sitting below the top group, that one detail is important to remember. For now, let’s focus on Week 12 of the season and our ATS picks for the weekend so you can place your bets against the College Football Lines.
ATS Week 12 Betting Picks | 2022 College Football Analysis
Oregon State Beavers (-7 ½) at Arizona State Sun Devils
At this stage of the season, neither of these teams really have anything left to play for. The Beavers are a respectable 7-3 and have clinched a bowl game, but they cannot make it to the Conference Championship Game. The Arizona State Sun Devils have just 3 wins, which means they cannot reach the 6 victories required to become bowl eligible. The Oregon State Beavers, though, could still potentially have double-digit wins this season, so perhaps that will drive them. They have also covered in 8 of their last 10 games, so I think they are a good bet to win and cover in this one.
Virginia Tech Hokies at Liberty Flames (-9 ½)
With just 2 games remaining before the end of the season, the Virginia Tech Hokies have probably reached a point where they just want it to be over. They hit the road this weekend on a 7-game losing skid that had dropped them to 2-8 on the season. On the flipside, the Liberty Flames are flying high at 8-2 and actually have the best record of all the independent teams. They are just 5-5 ATS on the season, as well as 2-2 ATS at home, so not much in the way of trends that might convince you one way or another. The Hokies, though, balance that out, as they have now covered in just 3 of their last 8 games and are also 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games played in the month of November.
NC State Wolfpack at Louisville Cardinals (-4)
This is another one of those games where things are a little tricky based on where each team is. Neither are in the ACC Championship Game hunt, and both have already become bowl eligible, so it really is all about trying to get as many wins as possible this season. These two are quite evenly matched, which is why the spread is this tight. There are some trends, though, that have me leaning towards the Cardinals this weekend. The NC State Wolfpack have not been a great bet when playing on the road, covering just once in their last 6 games away from home. They are also just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 overall. On the flipside, Louisville has covered in 4 of their last 5 games.
