XFL Week 2

  • When: Thursday, Feb. 23 – Sunday, Feb. 26

St. Louis Battlehawks at Seattle Sea Dragons | Thursday, Feb. 23

St. Louis and Seattle are the preseason favorites to win the XFL Championship, which is why this game on Feb. 23 is as meaningful as it gets.

The Battlehawks project as a slight underdog due to the matchup happening in Seattle. But St. Louis has a strong roster led by former Alabama Crimson Tide star quarterback A.J. McCarron.

If McCarron plays this season as well as so many believe he will, St. Louis should lift the hardware. When it comes to this game, though, winning will be tough.

Seattle quarterback Ben DiNucci played for top college FCS program James Madison before the Cowboys drafted him in 2020. The fact DiNucci takes on McCarron and the Battlehawks on Seattle’s field gives Ben and his team the edge to win and cover.

XFL Week 2 Pick: Seattle Sea Dragons

D.C. Defenders at Vegas Vipers | Saturday, Feb. 25

Vegas head coach Rod Woodson is one of the greatest defensive backs in the history of the NFL. Woodson is one of two former Pittsburgh Steelers greats coaching in the XFL. The other is Hines Ward, who heads up San Antonio.

Woodson’s team, no doubt, will play excellent defense. But the road team in this might have an edge at the most important position, quarterback.

Don’t get it wrong. Former Baylor QB Jalen McClendon is a decent signal-caller. But if D’Eriq King gets the start and is one hundred percent, he should handle the Vipers’ D.

In his first season with the Miami Hurricanes in 2020, King threw for 2,686 yards when completing 64% of his passes. He also rushed for 538 yards and a 4.1 per carry average. D’Eriq leads the Defenders to a road win.

XFL Week 2 Pick: D.C. Defenders

San Antonio Brahmas at Orlando Guardians | Sunday, Feb. 26

Hines Ward’s team has enough ability to pull off what should be a slight road upset victory. The San Antonio Brahmas figure to start former Notre Dame quarterback Jack Coan.

Coan completed 65.5% of his passes in his final season with the Golden Domers, 2021. Jack will hand the ball off to terrific former ASU running back Kalen Ballage.

Orlando has some talent as well. But the Brahmas figure to offer a decent moneyline and Coan and Ballage could be too difficult to handle.

XFL Week 2 Pick: San Antonio Brahmas

Arlington Renegades at Houston Roughnecks | Sunday, Feb. 26

Most feel former Northern Colorado quarterback Kyle Sloter challenges McCarron and DiNucci for the league’s MVP. Sloter should excel with the Renegades because unlike many of the other teams in the XFL, Arlington boasts a legit college football hall of fame coach in Bob Stoops.

The former Oklahoma head man will draw up plays that flatter Sloter’s abilities. When it comes to this game, the Roughnecks should be the favorite. So, we’ll have a chance to grab points on Sloter, Stoops, and the tough Renegades.

XFL Week 2 Pick: Arlington RenegadeS
