What You Can Bet On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – July 3rd Edition

Written by on July 3, 2020

Golfers battle at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, tons of soccer action, a great NASCAR heads to the Brickyard, and the return of Formula 1 racing. That’s what sports bettors have to look forward to this July 4th weekend!

What You Can Bet On July 3 – July 5

EPL, La Liga, and Serie A soccer

Sure, Liverpool has already won the English Premier League title. But that doesn’t mean that teams won’t give it their all on the pitch.

On Saturday, Wolverhampton takes on Arsenal, Chelsea battles Watford, and Leicester City throws down against Crystal Palace. Then on Sunday, Liverpool takes on Aston Villa while Man City travels to Southampton.

Over in La Liga, Real Madrid hopes to protect their 1-point lead over Barcelona with a Sunday victory against Atletico Bilbao. Barca and Messi battle Villareal on the same day.

Like Barcelona versus Real, Juventus versus Lazio is the major throw down in Italian Serie A. Juvy is 4 points ahead of Lazio on the Serie A Standings.

Ronaldo and his mates have a match against Torino. Lazio battles the tougher opponent, AC Milan. Both matches take place on Saturday, July 4.

Rounds 3 & 4 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic

Heading into the second round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, longshots Doc Redman and Scott Stallings have a 2-stroke lead over Rickie Fowler and Lucas Glover.

By Friday morning, golf bettors should have a good idea of which players have an edge heading into the weekend. So far, Daniel Berger, Webb Simpson, and Dustin Johnson have won PGA Tournaments post the sports shutdown.

None of the three, not even DJ, offered favorite’s odds. So, make sure to handicap the final two rounds of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Who knows? You might find a solid overlay to back.

F1 Austrian Grand Prix on July 5

Formula 1 returns on July 5. The Austrian Grand Prix happens on Sunday. As you might expect, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is a big favorite.

Valtteri Bottas, Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate, also has a shot. The thing to watch, though, is how well Ferrari does.

Top Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc said he’s 99% sure Ferrari won’t be better in 2020 than they were in 2019. That’s not a ringing endorsement.

Also, Ferrari told Sebastian Vettel that they won’t renew his contract next year. It will be interesting to see if that motivates Vettel to show Ferrari they made a mistake.

NASCAR Big Machine Hand Sanitizer at Indy Motor Speedway on July 5

Kevin Harvick won the Pocono 325 last Saturday. On Sunday, he’s won of the favorites to take the NASCAR Big Machine Hand Sanitizer at the Brickyard, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, on Sunday.

Harvick has a win and two Top 5 finishes from the last 3 races at the Brickyard. Kevin’s average finish is 3.67.

Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, and the Joe Gibbs Triumvirate of Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, and Martin Truex Jr. are also contenders.

NASCAR, along with UFC, took the first steps to restarting their seasons. Give NASCAR a big pat on the back by supporting the U.S. based motorsports league.

Updated futures: U.S. Presidential Election, Super Bowl, NBA, and MLB

Most definitely look into future wagers. Let’s start with the NFL.

Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and other Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren’t afraid of the coronavirus. They continue to practice together in Covid-19 hot spot Florida. The practice sessions have impressed Super Bowl future bettors so much that Tampa is a co-third choice with the San Francisco 49ers to win the 2021 Super Bowl.

Joe Biden has impressed future players so much by his lack of saying much of anything that he’s become a favorite to beat Donald Trump in the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election. If you believe in The Donald, now’s a great time to get overlay odds on the Prez.

The NBA released its schedule for the upcoming NBA Orlando Playoffs. Teams will play 8 regular season games to determine seeding. Most NBA lines are a point or two. That makes games attractive as betting options.

Finally, Major League Baseball said they’d start their season with a game between the Yankees and Nationals on July 23. If you like anybody outside of the Dodgers or Yankees to win the World Series, make your bet before the games start.

You’re getting at least +1000 or more on any team that doesn’t where pinstripes or plays at Chavez-Ravine.

Have a great weekend!
