The second half of the WNBA season is well under way, and we have a clear favorite emerging from the pack.
There is, though, still a lot of basketball to come, so no one is ready to concede anything just yet.
My Analysis of WNBA Games to watch this Week
That said, there are a few teams who need to pick things up rather dramatically if they are to make their way into the top 8 and the playoffs to follow.
We are now going to look ahead to the next few days to see if we can pick out some games that are worth watching and wagering on.
With that in mind, let’s dive in and pick out 4 games that we really like the look of over the coming days.
^Minnesota Lynx at Las Vegas Aces
Wednesday, August 21, 2024, 9:30 PM, ESPN | We have a pair of teams in the top 4 going head-to-head on Wednesday night in what should be a fun one to watch.
The Lynx are sitting in the #3 spot right now with a 19-8 record. They have won 3 in a row, but they will have a tough time keeping that run alive when they head to Las Vegas to face the Aces, who are in great form right now.
The Aces have won 7 of their last 10 and are now a game and a half out of 3rd. It is worth noting that the road team has won both meetings this season.
^Chicago Sky at Connecticut Sun
Friday, August 23, 2024, 7:30 PM, ION | The team that may well be feeling the highest level of pressure right now is the Chicago Sky.
They are in the #8 spot right now, but just a game and a half up on the team sitting directly below them.
Chicago is not doing a lot to convince anyone that they can maintain that spot, or even move up, as they are 5-5 in their last 10.
On the flip side, the Connecticut Sun are up in the #2 spot and chasing the top seed, although they are 6-4 in their last 10 and falling off the pace a little.
The Sun won both previous meetings with the Sky this season.

Connecticut Sun at New York Liberty
Saturday, August 24, 2024, 7:00 PM | There will be no time to rest for the Sun, as they will head home after their Friday night game, only to have the #1 team in the nation pay a visit.
The Sun will enjoy being back in their own building, where they have an 11-3 record.
The New York Liberty had now opened a 3 ½ game lead at the top of the WNBA, winning 7 in a row and 9 of their last 10 games overall.
They are 11-3 on the road this season and on a roll that is going to make them very tough to beat.
^LA Sparks at Dallas Wings
Sunday, August 25, 2024, 4:00 PM, NBA TV | Okay, this is definitely not one of the best matchups of the week given that these two teams are well out of playoff contention, but there is something intriguing about this one for me.
The Sparks are close to hitting bottom, losing 5 in a row and winning just twice in their last 10 games.
They are a pretty awful 2-12 on the road. The Wings are only a half game up on the Sparks, and have also won just twice in their last 10.
The Sparks have won 2 of 3 against the Wings this season.

WNBA Week 12 | July 18th – July 23rd, 2023
Connecticut Sun vs Atlanta Dream
The Sun and the Dreams are both in the top half of the WNBA standings. Both teams also were on a hot stretch heading into the break. Connecticut has won three straight and moved into a tie for second place in the WNBA with the New York Liberty.
Atlanta has won six straight games and is in a tie with Washington for fourth place. The Dream and Sun will play a matinee on Thursday before following it up with a night game on Saturday. Both teams have split a pair of matchups against each other so far this season.
Atlanta has played a fast-paced game this season, seeing 12 of its 19 games go over the total this season. The Dream is 11-8 against the spread. Connecticut is 11-8-1 against the spread and has seen the total go over in 13 of its 20 games.

New York Liberty at Washington Mystics
The Liberty are finally playing like the super team people envisioned them to be. New York has won four straight games and is in a virtual tie with the Sun atop the Eastern Conference. The Liberty have won four straight and eight of its past ten games.
New York hasn’t had an easy time beating Washington this season. The Mystics won the first meeting between the two teams and only lost the rematch by one point. Washington has seen a lot of its top players in-and-out of the lineup the past few weeks with injuries, including Elena Delle Donne. Washington is 9-10 against the spread, while New York is 8-10 against the spread. This matchup will be Friday night on Ion TV.

LA Sparks at Minnesota Lynx
The Lynx have won six of its past ten games to move into the seventh playoff spot. Minnesota, however, hasn’t been good at home, only putting up a 4-7 record. This Thursday night meeting on Prime Video will be important for Minnesota to maintain its spot in the playoff standings.
The Lynx have won all three of its meeting against the Sparks, including two defensive slugfests in the team’s last two meetings. Neither team was able to crack more than 70 points during the team’s previous meeting.
The Sparks have had plenty of issues with injuries this season. Only Dearcia Hamby and Zia Cooke have played in all 20 of the team’s games. Nneka Ogwumike leads the team in scoring at 19.8 points per game, while Lexie Brown, who has been limited to nine games this season due to injury and illness, contributes 13.3 points per game.
