With time winding down on the WNBA regular season, the playoffs are beginning to take shape, with just 1 spot left up for grabs.
Down at the bottom of the standings, you have 4 teams separated by just 2 games, so this is going to be a battle for the #8 seed that goes all the way down to the wire.
My Analysis of WNBA Games to watch this Week
We might well have a clearer picture once we get through the action this weekend, as there are some huge games on tap.
Keep in mind that the teams who have clinched are still jockeying for seeding, so there is still a lot to play for in the final couple of weeks of the season.
Let’s look ahead at the next few days and pick out some big games on the WNBA schedule.
^Seattle Storm at New York Liberty
Thursday, September 5, 7:00 PM, CBSSN | The Liberty are very much on the brink of cashing in on the #1 seed, with their lead at the top now sitting at 3 games.
The fact that they are 8-2 over the last 10 games proves that they are going to be very tough to knock out of that top spot. This is a team that is 14-2 at home, so they have to be the favorite here.
Seattle is in 5th overall, a game out of 4th and a potential home court edge in Round 1 of the playoffs.
They have lost both meetings with the Liberty this season.
^Dallas Wings at Atlanta Dream
Friday, September 6, 7:30 PM, ION | Both of these teams are sitting below the cut line, but both are still very much in the hunt. Dallas, though, could see their hopes of a playoff spot come to an end if they lose this one.
They are 2 games out of the #8 seed, with 2 teams sitting ahead of them, including their opponent here.
These teams have split their regular season series to this point, and it has been the home team that has won each of those games.
If that trend holds, then the Dream could be one step closer to the playoffs.
^Phoenix Mercury at Seattle Storm
Saturday, September 7, 9:00 PM, NBA TV | Just one game on the schedule on Saturday night, but it looks like a good one, as we have a pair of teams that are playoff bound meeting up.
The Mercury are down in the #7 spot right now, but they still have a shot at an upward move.
Their issue here is that they are just 7-10 on the road, while the Seattle Storm have been tough in their own building, going 12-5 in home games this season.
It has been the home team that won both previous meetings this season.

Dallas Wings at Chicago Sky
Sunday, September 8, 6:00 PM | It’s always good to be in control of your own destiny, but that is not the case for the Dallas Wings right now.
Their season could be effectively over this weekend, but they have a pair of games against the teams they are chasing for the final playoff spot, although both games are on the road.
We already covered their game in Atlanta, and now it is their Sunday game against Chicago that is in the spotlight.
The Sky are clinging to the final seed, but they have also lost 7 in a row. This might be the perfect time for the Wings to face them.

2023 Week 14 Games
Many different events can have a severe impact on the WNBA playoff picture. But the Las Vegas Aces seeing Candace Parker go down to an injury after fracturing her foot makes for an interesting wrinkle to the upcoming playoffs. Parker isn’t the player she used to be; she averages a solid nine points per game but isn’t expected to carry the load or her team.
Still, with Las Vegas off to a 22-2 start this season, the Aces don’t want too much more adversity as they seek to be the first WNBA team to repeat as champions since the Los Angeles Sparks did in the 2001 and 2002 seasons. Here’s a look at the best games to bet on this weekend.

Las Vegas Aces at New York Liberty
Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 at 10:00 pm EDT
Silver State Sports & Entertainment Network
The Aces and Liberty have separated themselves as the WNBA’s top two teams, but they have only met once so far this season. Las Vegas dominated New York in the first meeting 98-71. However, the two teams will still square off against each other four more times before the playoffs even start.
While Parker’s absence is a disappointment for Las Vegas, the Aces are still riding a seven-game winning streak where they have won every game by double figures. Las Vegas has covered the spread in five of those seven games. The Liberty are 19-6 this season but have had some bizarre results.
New York lost to Minnesota last week to snap a four-game winnings streak. The Liberty are 10-15 against the spread this season and are 2-8 against the spread in their past ten games.

Los Angeles Sparks at Washington Mystics
Friday, August 5th, 2023 at 7:00 pm EDT
Entertainment and Sports Arena Washington, DC
The Mystics and Sparks have both bit hit hard by injury and illness. Washington has lost five o its past six games playing without leading scoring Elena Delle Donne. As of now, the Mystics are still hanging on to a playoff spot and are seventh in the WNBA standings.
Washington is 12-13 against the spread and has seen the under hit in 15 of its 25 games. The Mystics have a hard time getting good looks without Delle Donne. Washington is shooting 42.6 percent from the field, which is 10th in the league.
The Sparks are on the outside looking in on the playoffs and will feel a sense of urgency to grab wins against Washington. The teams will play Friday and Sunday in D.C. Los Angeles is 9-14-2 against the spread and 9-16 straight up this season.

Chicago Sky at Dallas Wings
Friday, August 5th, 2023 at 8:00 pm EDT
College Park Center Arlington, TX
The Sky have battled through plenty of adversity this season and are hanging onto the eighth playoff spot in the WNBA. Chicago, which is 13-10-2 against the spread this season, will need to find a way to keep hanging on. The Sky have lost five of its past eight games.
Chicago has struggled to score this season. Dallas, on the other hand, is an explosive offensive team. The Wings have scored 90 or more points in five of their past six games. Dallas has also seen five of its past six games go over the total.
