2020 XFL Week 5 Preview & Games Odds

If you didn’t know, the top two teams from each division will advance to the playoffs. The East Division title game will be held on April 18 at 3:00 PM ET while the West Division title game will be held the following day on April 19 at 3:00 PM ET. The XFL championship game will be held on April 26 at TDECU Stadium on the University of Houston campus.

Seattle Dragons (1-3) at Houston Roughnecks (4-0) XFL Week 5

  • When: Saturday, March 7 at 2;00 PM ET
  • Where: TDECU Stadium, Houston, TX
  • TV: ABC
  • XFL Week 5 OddsHouston Roughnecks -13

Well, it’s about time Seattle made a switch at quarterback. The Dragons benched the mostly awful Brandon Silvers for B.J. Daniels and he was a lot better than his predecessor, even in Seattle’s 23-16 Week 4 loss to St. Louis. Daniels will almost certainly start this week, but it might not matter who’s under center seeing as how Houston is the league’s only unbeaten team and is led by the league’s best player in dual-threat quarterback P.J. Walker. The former Temple star and Indianapolis Colts backup  passed for 239 yards, two TDs in the Roughnecks’ 27-20 win over Dallas last weekend. Walker has 987 passing yards, 12 TDs and two interceptions heading into Week 5. Houston is a sure-fire pick to remain unbeaten.

New York Guardians (2-2) at Dallas Renegades (2-2)

  • When: Saturday, March 7 at 5:00 PM ET
  • Where: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, TX
  • TV: FOX
  • XFL Week 5 Odds: Dallas Renegades -8

The Guardians turned to former AAF star Luis Perez to pick up a 17-14 victory against Los Angeles last weekend to keep their playoff hopes alive. While Dallas fell to Houston 27-20, they played hard throughout, particularly after falling into a 15-0 hole against the Roughnecks early on. Dallas is the pick to get the win here, but quarterback Landry Jones has been pretty awful in averaging 2.3 interceptions per start.  Jones is scheduled to undergo an MRI for what looked like a serious knee injury suffered against Houston. Backups Philip Nelson and Brogan Roback will battle for the starting spot, potentially for the remainder of the regular season. This one looks like it could literally come down to the final series.

St. Louis BattleHawks (3-1) at D.C. Defenders (2-2)

St. Louis picked up a hard-fought 23-16 win over Seattle last weekend as quarterback Jordan Ta’amu passed for 264 passing yards while adding 63 rushing yards in the win. Ta’amu is second in the league in passing yards (876) and fourth in rushing yards (186). The Defenders lost their second straight by getting shut out by Tampa Bay 25-0 last weekend as quarterback Cardale Jones struggled for the second straight game by recording a pitiful 30.9 quarterback with an equally depressing 3.3 yards per pass attempt.

Tampa Bay Vipers (1-3) at Los Angeles Wildcats (1-3) XFL Week 5

  • When: Sunday, March 8 at 9:00 PM ET
  • Where: Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, CA
  • TV: FOX
  • XFL Week 5 Odds: Los Angeles Wildcats -1

Tampa Bay jumped out to a 16-0 halftime lead they would never relinquish en route to a commanding 25-0 win over DC last weekend. The Vipers out-gained the Defenders 223-79 in the first two quarters as quarterback Taylor Cornelius finished with 211 passing yards a TD and an interception. Former NFL signal-caller Josh Johnson passed for 330 yards and two TDs, but it wasn’t enough as LA fell to New York 17-14 last weekend. New York hit the game-winning field goal with 10:54 remaining to seal the deal. Tampa Bay is averaging a modest 16 points per game while allowing 18.5 points per contest defensively. Los Angeles is averaging and allowing an identical 22.0 points per game.
