Series History

The Seminoles and Hoosiers squared off last season in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, with FSU traveling to Bloomington and Indiana won that game, 80-64. The two teams have met five times since 1975 with Indiana holding a 5-0 record against the Seminoles. This will be the first time ever that FSU hosts Indiana.

The Hoosiers (3-1) finished third last week at the Maui Invitational. They routed Stanford 79-63 last Wednesday in that third-place game a day after IU was creamed by Texas.

Against Stanford, sophomore Trayce Jackson-Davis scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed six rebounds. IU also got a big game from sophomore Armaan Franklin, who stuffed the box score with 13 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in the victory.

The Hoosiers made a statement in the first five minutes of the second half by scoring 11 of the first 15 points out of the break, a run that was capped off with a 3-pointer from freshman Khristian Lander off a pass from Race Thompson that put Indiana up 42-30.

Jackson-Davis went 10-of-16 from the field and made 11-of-14 free-throw attempts. He has now registered eight career games of at least 20 points and was the first Hoosier to score 30-plus points in a single game since Devonte Green tallied 30 points against Florida State on Dec. 3, 2019. In addition, Jackson-Davis drew 11 fouls.

Thompson finished with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting, and he added eight rebounds to go with three assists. Indiana shot 52.9 percent from the floor and went 20-of-25 from the line. IU forced 14 turnovers and outrebounded Stanford 34-26. The Hoosiers played without guard Aljami Durham, who suffered an ankle injury vs. Texas.  Freshman Trey Galloway recorded five points to go along with a rebound and an assist in his first career collegiate start.

Indiana was led by a strong defensive effort, holding the Cardinal to 35.8% (19-of-53) from the field including 25% (5-of-20) from 3-point range. The Hoosiers outscored the Cardinal in the paint by a tally of 36-26, dished out 19 total assists to Stanford’s six and out-blocked the Cardinal, 8-3.

“I’ve said this before, we have a no-maintenance group,” Coach Archie Miller said of the bounce-back effort. “It wasn’t like at the end of the (Texas) game, the sky was falling everywhere else. Our team was fine. We have a high character group that likes one another. And to be quite honest with you, Trayce needed to get lit up. He needed to get going, and we’re not going to be going where we need to be unless he plays at a really extremely high level, and he answered the bell.”

Why Bet on Florida State? | 2020 NCAA Basketball Expert Analysis

Florida State finished the 2019-20 season with a 26-5 overall record and a 16-4 mark in ACC play. The Seminoles’ 26 wins were a school record for wins in a regular season while their five losses were the fewest in a season since the 1969-70 season. FSU won the regular season ACC Championship for the first time in school history and was the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament for the first time in school history.

Florida State has earned a school record five consecutive 20+ win seasons (26 wins in 2020, 29 wins in 2019, 23 wins in 2018, 26 wins in 2017 and 20 wins in 2016). FSU also won nine consecutive overtime games.

Because of COVID-19, Florida State has played just one game so far and routed North Florida 86-58 last week.   The Seminoles maintained a steady lead throughout the game in winning its 24th consecutive game at home. The win was the Seminoles’ sixth consecutive in the series against North Florida.

Senior M.J. Walker scored a game-high 17 points for FSU.  Walker finished with 17 points, four rebounds, and two assists. He added to his total of 132 career 3-point shots made.  Walker was recently named to the prestigious Jerry West Award watch list, which is annually presented to the top shooting guard in college basketball.

Five-star freshman Scottie Barnes made his Seminoles debut with eight points, six rebounds, and six assists. He led the team in rebounds and assists, and made a show-stopping behind-the-back dunk near the end of the second half.  Barnes was named as one of the 20 candidates for the prestigious Bob Cousy award, which is awarded annually to the nation’s top point guard in college basketball.

The win upped Florida State’s record at the Tucker Center to 66-3 since a victory over Notre Dame on February 7, 2015.  The Seminoles have won at home at a 95.6 percent winning percentage in the last four seasons.

Florida State has won 39 consecutive non-conference home games – the second longest active streak in the nation. Butler, which has won 59 straight non-conference home games, has the longest streak in the nation.

Florida State’s Leonard Hamilton is the fifth winningest coach in ACC history.

MyBookie’s software and lines are in line with other books, but they really stand out with the promotions. They are more frequent and offer better deals than their competitors. I’ll never go back to another book.
