2025 Cup Series Odds to Win: Kyle Larson on Top, Christopher Bell and William Byron are close behind

2025 Cup Series Odds to Win: Kyle Larson on Top, Christopher Bell and William Byron are close behind

The NASCAR season is always fast and frantic, and the 2024 season very much lived up to the excitement that we have grown accustomed to.

Once all was said and done, it was Joey Logano who ended the season as the Cup Series champion.

My Cup Series Series Analysis

While we are all still talking about what went down, teams and drivers are already prepping for the 2025 season, with some new drivers set to take to the Cup Series schedule in the coming season.

While there will be some new faces, I am pretty sure that it will be the usual familiar faces battling it out for supremacy once all is said and done.

The bookies are also on the ball, as they have released their initial odds for the 2025 Cup Series season.

What we are going to do is look at the top 3 drivers on the bookies board, with a quick recap of the past few seasons included in the preview.

We will then close things out with a few other drivers who might be in the hunt, so let’s get right to it.

^

Kyle Larson +500

When you are looking to get in early on the betting for the upcoming season, I’m sure a lot of you look at recent champions first, as well as drivers who always seem to be in the hunt to win it all.

If that is the method you use, then I’m sure that Kyle Larson is on your radar, even though he failed to make it to the Championship Round this season after spending a good portion of the year at the top of the driver standings. With that being said, let’s look at his performance over the last 5 seasons:

  • 2020 – Suspended
  • 2021 – Champion
  • 2022 – 7th
  • 2023 – 2nd
  • 2024 – 6th

The biggest surprise in those last 5 seasons was his championship win, as he was coming off a season long suspension and seemingly starting from the bottom. Larson tore it up in 2021, winning races for fun and taking the Cup Series Championship in a bit of a canter.

While he has struggled to reach those heights since, he does always seem to be in the hunt all the way to the end. He is a versatile driver that can adapt to all different types of races, so he is always a good pick to win it all.

^

Christopher Bell +550

It is always fun to watch a new Cup Series find their feet at the highest level in NASCAR, which is exactly what we have witnessed with Christopher Bell in his 5 full seasons at this level.

As you would expect, he struggled in his first couple of seasons in the Cup Series, but over the last 3 years, he has taken off and is now very much considered a favorite to win it all, with the belief being that it is only a matter of time before he wins his first title. Let’s take a quick peek at his first 5 seasons in the Cup Series:

  • 2020 – 20th
  • 2021 – 12th
  • 2022 – 3rd
  • 2023 – 4th
  • 2024 – 5th

There are some who will consider what Bell delivered this season as a bit of a backward step, but 3 straight seasons finishing in the top 5 overall is an achievement that most drivers would snatch up of given the opportunity.

So, how can Bell get over the top and take the next step? The most logical answer is that he needs to win more races. His 3 wins this past season was a career best, so he is definitely heading in the right direction when it comes to checkered flags.

^

William Byron +680

There appears to be a new batch of drivers coming through and challenging for the Cup Series Championship, with William Byron very much in that group.

Like Bell, William Byron has steadily improved during his time at this level and now looks to be a familiar name in the Championship Round, although he is still looking for that first title.

Again, this is another driver who looks to be on the cusp of winning it all, as can be witnessed by looking back at his last 5 seasons:

  • 2020 – 14th
  • 2021 – 10th
  • 2022 – 6th
  • 2023 – 3rd
  • 2024 – 3rd

Byron has now been knocking on the door in the last couple of seasons, making it to the final four in back-to-back seasons. It is worth noting that he finished in the top 5 in each of the last 2 Championship Rounds, so he really is about as close to winning it all as you can get without actually making it happen.

I have a feeling that 2025 might be his year, as this is a driver that knows how to win races on a regular basis.

^

Other Drivers to Consider

The current odds at the top of the bookies board are tight, as you will see in a moment. Ryan Blaney is sitting at +700 right now, so definitely on par with the other drivers mentioned above.

Strangely enough, 2-time champion Joey Logano (+850) is not in the top 4 on the board, but that means little, as he has nothing left to prove at this point. Winning it all in back-to-back seasons is tough, but I would not count Logano out, not by a long shot.

Behind that group, we have 3 more drivers who could well be in the conversation. Tyler Reddick (+850) is another up-and-coming driver who looks ready to win a championship, while Denny Hamlin (+800), and Chase Elliott (+1250), a recent champion, could both well be in the conversation.

We will keep an eye on the odds as they change and will update you all on how things are looking once the new Cup Series begins in the early part of 2025.

2024 Cup Series Championship Top Picks

Those of you who regularly wager on NASCAR, and specifically the Cup Series, may already have put your money on who you believe will end the season as the champion.

Then again, there are sure to be many more who are awaiting the end of the regular season before making a wager on the Cup Series winner.

My Analysis for the NASCAR Championship

There are now just 2 races remaining before we get to the cut and head into the playoffs with the Round of 16.

The majority of those spots appear to be filled, with only a couple of places essentially up for grabs.

With all that in mind, let’s look at the current odds, while we make a pick on who we believe will win it all this season.

Kyle Larson +380

As it stands right now, Larson has the top spot in the driver standings, and all while running 1 less race than the rest of the pack.

Larson has proven that he knows how to get the job done in the playoffs, winning the championship in the 2021 season.

He had an off year in 2022 before bouncing back to finish 2nd overall last season.

He has 3 wins to his name this season, and while he does look like the man to beat at the moment, I am not so sure he wins it all, although I think he can get to the Championship Round.

One point could be all the difference between winning the regular season championship or not.

Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney both lost spots on the final lap after this contact.

Denny Hamlin +380

While Hamlin has been one of the most consistent drivers in the Cup Series for a lot of years now, the knock on him is that he has not been able to win a championship.

After making it to the Championship in 3 straight seasons, Hamlin has had to settle for 5th overall in each of the last 2 years.

Wins have been hard to come by for Hamlin in the second half of the season, which makes me nervous about playing him to win it all this time around. History does not seem to be on his side.

Christopher Bell +400

Over the last 2 seasons, Bell has been knocking on the championship door, but is this the year when he finally kicks it down?

The breakthrough season for Bell came in 2022, when he managed to make it to the final round before settling for 3rd overall.

He was solid again last season, once again reaching the Championship Round before finishing 4th overall. He is sitting 7th in the driver standings right now, but I think he can step up a gear and go on a run this season that takes him to the Cup Series Championship.

William Byron +700

Last year was the first trip to the Championship Round for Byron after finishing 6th overall in 2022. It does feel as though he is getting ever closer to his first title win, but will it come this season?

My concern with Bell right now is that his last win came in the first half of the season. He also only has 1 career playoff win, which is a little problematic.

That said, I think we could see him make another deep run and once again land in the top 3.

2024 NASCAR Cup Series | 76th season for NASCAR professional stock car racing
Sunday, February 4th – Sunday, November 10th, 2023

Ryan Blaney won his first NASCAR Cup, which is why Blaney shows up as the second choice behind Kyler Larson to take the 2024 hardware.

Will Blaney make it two in a row? Will Chase Elliott bounce back from a tough 2023 season?

How will Hendrick Motorsports chalk Kyle Larson perform?

Check out the odds to win the NASCAR Cup Series, analysis, and a picks for this upcoming NASCAR Cup Series Season.

2024 NASCAR Cup Series Picks

To Win: William Byron

NASCAR Odds: Byron +570

The man who sits in Jeff Gordon’s old number 24 had a huge chance of winning the 2023 NASCAR Cup Playoff. Byron won 6 races this past season, scored 21 top tens and 15 top fives and won 4 poles.

The man had as good of a season as imaginable without a Cup victory. Although Hendrick gets Elliott back from his injury-plagued 2023, William Byron is the top choice at NASCAR’s best constructor to score the win.

Second Place: Ryan Blaney

NASCAR Odds: Blaney +560

The defending champion is good enough to make it two straight titles. Ryan Blaney didn’t just win the Cup; he won the Cup as an underdog.

Often, when a NASCAR driver and crew get it together, they keep it together. We have no problem siding with Blaney if you believe he lifts the hardware in 2024 the way he did in 2023.

Byron, though, offers slightly better odds and will be motivated after making the NASCAR Final Four and failing at Phoenix Raceway for the title. So we rate William slightly ahead of Ryan.

Third Place: Christopher Bell

NASCAR Odds: Bell +870

Joe Gibbs Racing is quickly becoming Christopher Bell’s team. Bell snuck into the NASCAR Final Four after terrific finishes at Homestead-Miami and Martinsville.

Bell made the final four while Martin Truex Jr. didn’t. Gibbs is going to lean on Bell to get it done this season. Expect the youngest of the Gibbs Team drivers to perform the best.

NASCAR Third Pick: Christopher Bell +870 | Bet Christopher Bell to Win Today

Fourth Place: Kyle Larson

NASCAR Odds: Larson +550

The 2024 favorite was also the 2023 chalk. Kyle Larson won just 4 races this past season. However, 2 of his wins came during the NASCAR Cup Playoff.

Larson couldn’t get by Blaney at Phoenix. He did finish second on the standings. Like teammate William Byron, Larson will be motivated to score a NASCAR Cup this season.

But the odds are worse than they are for Blaney or Byron. Also, Larson doesn’t seem to close the deal when it matters most. Kyle is a play against this far out before NASCAR’s first race in February.

2023 Championship Odds to Win 2 Months Into the Season

NASCAR Cup Series 2023 Championship Odds to Win 2 Months Into the Season | MyBookie Motor Sports Preview

NASCAR has come a long way in 75 years. Today, the stock car racing circuit is quite a far cry from its days when bootleggers would improve their cars so that they were able to evade the police and get their products through.

2023 is NASCAR’s diamond season, and they’re pulling out all the stops for it. Fan-favorite tracks like Daytona International Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway will host multiple races throughout the calendar. The series also returns to the Chicago market with a Chicago street race that utilizes the scenery of the Chicago lakefront and Buckingham Fountain.

We’re eight races into the season, and it looks like it’ll be a fantastic race to the playoffs in September. Let’s look back at the races so far this season and some appealing bets for NASCAR bettors the rest of the way.

2023 Season: Sunday, Feb. 5 – Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023
Where: Neville Arena, Auburn, AL
TV / Streaming: ESPN

The Diamond Season: The Cup Series Season So Far

The competition for the points title is thick so far. We’re eight races into the season, with only one repeat winner. The top four drivers in the standings points are all separated by less than 40 points.

There has also been an even distribution of pole positions wins among drivers this year. Of the five points races so far, two poles have been won by Joey Logano, one by Kyle Larson, and one by Alex Bowman. With such a stacked field of drivers, it’s safe to expect these trends will continue as the rest of the season plays out.

Compelling Wagering Narratives

With another five months of points races until the playoffs, there are some compelling narratives that NASCAR bettors could take to the window to lock in some good odds on this year’s Cup Winner.

Kevin Harvick stands out from a narrative perspective. Before the season, Harvick announced that this would be his last Cup Series season. Harvick’s resume is impressive – he’s won two Busch Series (now Xfinity Series) championships, the 2014 Cup Series championship, and is currently the longest-tenured driver in the NASCAR series. He’s at +1400 to win the Cup Series championship in his last season and is off to a strong start with three top-fives and five top-ten finishes so far.

Another driver to watch is William Byron, who is going off at +800. Byron won two races back-to-back in March in Las Vegas and Phoenix. If he can achieve a little more consistency with top-five and top-ten finishes, Byron could very well be a threat to win the Championship.

For those interested in a longer-odds favorite, Alex Bowman is going off at +2500. A controversial driver with a bad reputation amongst other Cup competitors, he’s had three top-five finishes and six top-ten finishes this year. He sits in 11th in points right now. With a few more efforts to get into the top-five, Bowman could easily vault his way into contention for the title.

2023 Championship Half Way Through the Season

Updated 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Odds to Win the Championship Half Way Through the Season | MyBookie Racing Betting Preview

We’re at the halfway point of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Season, which means we must start thinking playoffs. If the playoffs started today, Martin Truex Jr. or William Byron would be in the top spot.

Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, and Joey Logano would make it to the top 16. A driver like Chase Elliott, though, wouldn’t.

Check out updated odds to win the NASCAR Cup Series half way through the season along with our picks.

2023 National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing Cup Series
February 5th – November 5th, 2023

2023 NASCAR Cup Series Season So Far

William Byron and Kyle Busch have each won 3 races. Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Larson both have 2 wins, which explains why Truex Jr. and Larson offer the odds they do.

Other winners so far this NASCAR Season include Ross Chastain, Denny Hamlin, and Cristopher Bell. Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano, Tyler Reddick, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. have also won races.

Updated Picks for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series

To Win: Kyle Busch +710

Kyle Busch left Joe Gibbs Racing after last season to drive for Richard Childress. So far, things have worked out as planned.

Busch won at Auto Club Speedway and at Talladega. His last win came over the road course at World Wide Technology Raceway. Busch has 11 top ten finishes and 6 top five finishes this season.

Overall, Kyle has won two NASCAR Cups. He took home the top prize in 2015 and then again in 2019. Busch is proving he remains one of NASCAR’s top drivers. Also, Kyle is motivated. So if you don’t mind the low odds, go for it.

Second Pick: Martin Truex Jr. +710

It took Truex Jr. some time to get going. Early in the season, the Joe Gibbs driver wasn’t scoring top five, or even top ten, finishes. But then at Dover, Martin got the win.

The second choice finished eighth at Kansas in the next race. Starting at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Truex Jr. ran off 4 straight top 5 finishes: third at Charlotte, fifth at World Wide Technology Raceway, a win at Sonoma, and then a second at Nashville.

Truex Jr. often picks it up in the second half of the season. Give the second pick a long look to win the title.

Third Choice: Joey Logano +1200

The 33-year-old Penske driver has won two Cups. Logano’s first Cup Series win came in 2018. Then last year, Joey won it again.

Unlike many other NASCAR drivers, Joey Logano knows the way to win the NASCAR Cup is to make sure your car, your crew, and you peak at the right time. If Logano makes the playoffs, and right now he’s tenth, he will have a chance to win the title.

Top Underdog Play: Brad Keselowski +2900

If the playoffs started today, Keselowski would be in.

In a recent interview, Keselowski said he believes his team is where they need to be at this point in the season.

Keselowski is like Logano. The goal is to make the Round of 16 Playoffs. Then, once he makes it to the postseason, the plan is to turn on the back burners and get the upset victory. Give Keselowski a better shot than the 29-to-1 odds indicate.

2023 Championship Before the Start of the Season

2023 NASCAR Cup Series Championship Before the Start of the Season | Odds To Win

Hard as it may seem to believe, we are now only a week away from seeing NASCAR drivers back on the track. Next weekend will see the Clash at the Coliseum, which is essentially a preseason race. After that, we have a pair of duel races at Daytona before getting to the Daytona 500 on February 19. With all of that in mind, you don’t have a lot of time to get your wagers for the Cup Series Championship posted before the season begins and the odds begin to change, oftentimes in the wrong direction. There are some very familiar names in at the top of the bookies board as we look ahead to the 2023 NASCAR season, so let’s take a look at some of the current NASCAR Championship odds favorites, keeping in mind that these odds can and will change.

Chase Elliott (+550)

In terms of consistency, there really isn’t a better bet than Chase Elliott. He is on a run that has seen him make it all the way to the final four in each of the last 3 seasons. He win his lone championship in 2020, and then followed that up by finishing 4th in each of the last 2 seasons. Elliott has a way of racking up points and staying among the leaders in just about every race, and if he can turn more of those close calls into wins, there is no reason why he can’t add another championship to his resume in 2023.

Kyle Larson (+600)

You could argue that Larson had a disappointing season in 2022, but part of that has to be because he set the bar so high when he won it all the year prior. Larson was an absolute beast in 2022, basically taking the lead early and never looking back. He made it to the Round of 8 last year, but he ended up finishing 7th overall and was never really able to get a good, consistent run of form going throughout the season. The pressure is off a little this time around, so we might see a bounce back year for Larson.

Denny Hamlin (+800)

We talked about consistency when discussing Chase Elliott, and the same rules very much apply for Hamlin. He may be the best driver in the Cup Series never to have won a championship. He has, though, come very close on several occasions and is coming off a 2022 season th at saw him finish 5th overall. All of that suggests he is a bit of a risky bet to win the Cup Series, but given that he always seems to be in the mix, the law of averages suggests that he might be able to get over the top just once.

Ryan Blaney (+1000)

If anyone is due for a breakout season, it might well be Ryan Blaney, and judging by these odds, the bookies seem to agree. Over the past 4 seasons, Blaney has finished in the top 10 overall, with his lack of wins hurting his ability to get to the final four. He went through the entire season in 2022 without taking a checkered flag, but he did close things out with back-to-back podium finishes. Might that be a sign that he is ready to come out hot in 2023.
