A handful of the biggest names in golf head to Tokyo to compete in the Summer Olympics to compete for their respective countries vying for a gold medal. 60 men and 60 women golfers will compete in the Olympics, with the men beginning competing on July 29th to August 1st, and the women on August 4th-7th.
On the men’s side, nine of the top 20 golfers in the world descend on Kasumigaseki Golf Club to battle for the top spot on the podium. Justin Rose and Inbee Park took home gold medals in 2016 when golf returned to the Olympics for the first time since 1904. Rose will not be in Tokyo to defend his title, but Park will be back to try and make it back-to-back gold medal finishes. It’s time to take a look at our updated betting analysis so you can continue planning your bets against MyBookie’s Olympics odds.

Jon Rahm (Spain) is the betting favorite, and Rory McIlroy (Ireland) is right behind him on the odds board. Other big names that can win the gold medal include Viktor Hovland (Norway) and Hideki Matsuyama (Japan).

One interesting storyline to follow during the Olympics is how the South Korean golfers, Sungjae Im and Si Woo Kim, do in the tournament. South Korea’s government mandates that men between the ages of 18 and 28 complete two years of military service, and neither have done so while chasing their golf career. Winning a medal of any kind would grant them a release from their two-year military obligations.
Women’s Olympic Betting Odds & Analysis
South Korea’s Inbee Park was the gold medal winner in Rio and returns as one of the golfers with the best odds to repeat. South Korea has a loaded squad much like the USA in the men’s division. Park and USA’s Nelly Korda have the best odds to win the gold medal in Tokyo.
South Korea’s Jin Young Ko, Sei Young Kim, and Hyo Joo Kim round out the four South Korean golfers in the top six on the odds board. American Danielle Kang completes the top six golfers for the women’s tournament.

Olympic Golf Format
The golf format for the Olympics is like your typical four-day PGA Tour event. Players will participate in a 72-hole individual stroke play event, with the top player earning the gold medal. If there is a tie for any of the top three positions, a three-hole playoff will be used to determine the medal winner.
