It’s the penultimate week of the AFL season as the league heads into round 22 play. While the top of the ladder is close with Geelong holding a one game lead over Collingwood, it’s further down in the standings where things really get interesting.
Three teams are within a game in the win column of taking home the last spot in the top eight. Of course that could all change by the end of the weekend because there are four teams in the top eight battling each other in round 22 rugby betting picks.
Here are the most exciting games of this weekend’s slate so you can get ready to bet against their AFL Odds.
Top AFL Round 22 Betting Games for the Weekend
St. Kilda Saints (+127) vs Brisbane Lions (-204), Friday 4:50 AM ET
The Saints are just two points back from Richmond for the last spot in the finals and finish their year against a Sydney team that may have nothing to play for next Sunday. Even so, if you’re St. Kilda, do you even want to make the finals this year? St. Kilda lost 110-65 to Geelong last week putting them at just 3-6 over their last nine.
Brisbane is a road favorite on Friday as they are three teams tied at 14-6 for the third through fifth spot in the ladder. The Lions won 78-57 when these two teams last met on June 11th, and Brisbane should have momentum after beating a top eight team Carlton 114-81 last Sunday.
Gold Coast Suns (+217) vs Geelong Cats (-384), Saturday 1:35 AM ET
Geelong is just red hot right now, winners of 11-straight as they seem headed towards the top spot during the regular season. The Cats have only ever lost twice to Gold Coast since the Suns debuted in the AFL in 2011.
The Suns are officially eliminated from finals contention after a 70-63 heartbreaker against Hawthorn last Friday. Gold Coast still would have had some work to do to jump the Bulldogs, Saints, and Richmond over the final two weeks but now with nothing to lose the Suns could be very dangerous.
Melbourne Demons (-384) vs Carlton Blues (+214), Saturday 4:25 AM ET
There’s a top eight matchup on tap when third place Melbourne and seventh place Carlton square off on Saturday at MCG. This was supposed to be the Dees season to run away with after winning the premiership last year, but Melbourne is limping into the finals at 4-6 over their last 10.
Carlton sits in the seventh spot at 12-8, but 11-8-1 Richmond and 11-9 St. Kilda could easily jump the Blues over the last two rounds of the 2022 AFL season. That’s especially true with Carlton having to face second place Collingwood in their regular season finale next Sunday.
Sydney Swans (-256) vs Collingwood Magpies (+158), Sunday 12:20 AM ET
The Magpies have matched top seeded Geelong with 11 straight wins and it doesn’t look like either team is slowing down heading into the finals. Sydney is one of three teams at 14-6, just a game back from Collingwood so a win on Sunday would really throw a wrench into all the scenarios that could play heading into next weekend’s regular season finale.
