** Note that once odds are set they should be set close to what’s below. Odds aren’t likely to be exact as what’s below listed.

Favorites

  • Kevin Harvick                       +275
  • Kyle Busch                             +399
  • Martin Truex Jr.                  +399
Both Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch are in fine form heading to Michigan International Speedway. Busch finished fourth at Kentucky, second at New Hampshire, first at Pocono and third at Watkins Glen last week. Truex Jr. finished second at Daytona, first at Kentucky, fourth at New Hampshire, and second at Watkins Glen. The fifteenth finish at Pocono wasn’t great. Still, it wasn’t horrible. If Truex Jr. and Busch are driving so well, why is Harvick favored? Harvick’s tenth place finish at Watkins-Glen wasn’t bad. He also finished second in the first race at Michigan International Speedway earlier this year. Harvick finished fourth in this race last year. Kevin Harvick’s the pick of the 3 drivers because of his affinity for MIS. 2018 Consumers Energy 400 Favorite Pick: Kevin Harvick

Second Choices

  • Kyle Larson                           +800
  • Chase Elliott                          +1200
  • Clint Bowyer                         +1200
  • Brad Keselowski                  +1200
It’s almost impossible to look past Kyle Larson in the Second Choices category. Larson drove well enough for a sixth place finish at Watkins-Glen last week. If that wasn’t enough of a reason to go with Larson, he’s won the last two racings of the Consumers Energy 400. Larson took the checkered flag in both 2016 and 2017. It’s almost impossible to look past Kyle Larson. It’s not impossible. Chase Elliott finished a respectable eighth at last year’s Consumers Energy 400. He won at Watkins-Glen. Elliott’s hot enough to consider backing at +1200. 2018 Consumers Energy 400 Second Choices Pick: Chase Elliott

Underdogs

  • Joey Logano                          +2000
  • Ryan Blaney                          +2000
  • Denny Hamlin                      +2000
  • Erik Jones                              +2500
  • Kurt Busch                             +3000
Many of the drivers in the Underdogs category could get it done on Sunday. Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, and Ryan Blaney all have the crews to take the checkered flag. So does Kurt Busch at +3000. Erik Jones looks like the best play, though. As a rookie, Jones finished third at the Consumers Energy 400. He finished fifth at Watkins Glen. If the odds turn out to be close to +2500, Jones might be the best play on the board. 2018 Consumers Energy 400 Underdog Pick: Erik Jones
