Favorites

  • Kevin Harvick +200
  • Kyle Busch +250
  • Martin Truex Jr. +330
  • Kyle Larson +650
Although Harvick’s the favorite, it’s impossible to look past him to win the South Point 400 on Sunday. First, Harvick and his crew are in excellent form. Harvick won at Michigan on August 12. On August 18, he and his crew finished 10th at Bristol. Since the 10th at Bristol, Harvick’s produced 2 back-to-back 4th place finishes, the first at Darlington and the second at The Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Second, Harvick won the last race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. That race, the Pennzoil 400, took place on March 4. Starting second, Harvick led 214 of the 267 laps. Again, it’s always tough to bet chalk, but in this case, backing Kevin Harvick makes sense. NASCAR Betting Pick: Kevin Harvick

Smart Choices

  • Brad Keselowski +650
  • Erik Jones +2000
  • Joey Logano +1600
Brad Keselowski won at The Brickyard last week. Erik Jones finished second, though, which means it’s tough to handicap between Jones and Keselowski. The key for me is that Keselowski finished 6th in the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 4. He didn’t lead any laps, but he started 8th and moved up 2 spots. Then again, Jones started and moved up a spot to 8th. Keselowski won at Darlington before taking the checkered flag at The Brickyard, giving him back-to-back victories. It’s tough to win 3 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup races in a row. I’ll side with Jones over Keselowski in the smart choices category.

NASCAR Betting Pick: Erik Jones

Underdogs

  • Ryan Blaney +1600
  • Kurt Busch +2000
  • Chase Elliot +1600
Who’s got the best shot of Blaney, Busch, and Elliott to pull off the upset? You can make a case for all of them, but Kurt Busch raced extremely well at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last week. He started 4th, led 19 laps, and gained 46 points. Brother Kyle won the pole and finished 8th, two spots behind older brother Kurt. Kyle’s older brother crashed with Chase Elliot out of the Pennzoil 400. Because of the crash, there’s no way to tell if he might have finished in the Top 5. Kurt Busch offers decent odds to pull off the upset. If you’re looking to back a dog, Busch might be your dog.

NASCAR Betting Pick: Kurt Busch
