We are getting down to the wire in the 2022 Formula E season, and while there are 4 races remaining, there are in fact only 2 more race weekends to come. We have a doubleheader in London this coming weekend, followed by a doubleheader in Seoul to close out the year. A champion will be crowned soon enough, with the top 4 drivers at the moment all still in with a shot at winning it all. Those 4 drivers are separated by just 27 points, so the world championship really is there for taking, but who will rise to the top through the final 4 races? Only time will tell, but all we can do at the moment is focus on the next set of races, which comes this weekend in London. Let’s now take a look at the current top 4 to see how they might perform in jolly old England and you can bet against their Formula E Odds.
Formula E Betting Preview for the 2022 London E-Prix Race
Stoffel Vandoorne
It is Vandoorne who sits atop the driver standings with 4 races to go, and given the form that he has been in, it is going to be tough to knock him out of there. Over the last 9 races, Vandoorne has just 1 win, but he has also not finished worse than 8th, which means that he has been routinely picking up points and padding his lead. That lead sits at 11 points, so it is certainly not what you would call a safe one with so many points still up for grabs. He did not perform particularly well in the London doubleheader last year, so might that open the door for one of the chasing pack?
Edorado Mortara
After being forced to retire in the final race of the 2021 season, Mortara saw his title hopes slip away, as he was forced to settle for 2nd overall in the driver standings. That is where he is sitting again after losing ground to Vandoorne in New York City in the previous doubleheader. It was not the worst runs ever in the Big Apple, but 9th and 10th place finishes are not what he needs right now. This is a guy who has 3 wins on the season, so he certainly has it in him to finish strong. He will need to do better than his 9th and 11th place finishes in London last year.
Mitch Evans
Evans has had to overcome a slow start to the season, where he was a non-factor in the first 3 races of the season. He has done well to haul himself all the way up to 3rd in the driver standings, winning 3 races and basically staying competitive every week. He had a podium finish in one of the NYC races last time out, and he probably needs more of the same this weekend. He landed on the podium in the 2nd race in London last year, so reason to believe he could make a mark in this one.
Jean-Eric Vergne
While the race at the top of the driver standings is tight, Vergne will be well aware that he needs to finish the season strong if he is to overtake all 3 men currently sitting ahead of him. His cause took a serious knock last race out in NYC, finish outside the top 10 in the first race and being forced to retire in the second. He finished outside the top 10 in both London races in 2021 and if he repeats that, his chances of winning it all may be gone.
