Bellator 280: Bader vs Kongo 2 Betting Odds, Analysis & Picks

There is nothing quite as exciting as a title fight, so there is a lot to look forward to on Friday with Bellator 280. We have a 5-fight main card on tap, starting at 1 PM EST on Friday. The early start is because this event is coming to us from France, so you will want to be sure to get your bets together and in as quickly as possible. As you might expect, we have a few French fighters, including one in the main event, on the card, so you can expect a raucous crowd here. Let’s now take a closer look inside the main card, with odds and predictions for each so you can wager against the Bellator Odds.

Bellator 280 Betting Preview | MMA Analysis

Mike Shipman (-180) Vs Gregory Babene (+150)

We get the main card rolling with a Middleweight bout that looks to be incredibly evenly matched. Shipman appears to be getting back on track, winning last time out and snapping a 2-fight losing skid. That took his Bellator record to 3-2. Babene comes in with a 21-11 record, but perhaps more importantly, a 6-fight win streak. He fought in Bellator a few years back, winning all 3 fights. I think we get the minor upset here, with Babene getting the KO win.

Lorenz Larkin (-315) Vs Kyle Stewart (+255)

The second fight on the card is another Middleweight bout, although you have to say that this one looks a little easier to predict. Larkin comes in with a 23-7 record and a great run of form, winning each of the 5 fights ahead of this one, all under the Bellator banner. Stewart is 15-5 and is on a lopsided run right now, splitting each of his last 4 fights. This will be his first appearance in Bellator. It may go all the way, but I like Larkin to get the decision.

Davy Gallon Vs Benjamin Brander

We have a Lightweight bout up next and a matchup that looks to be somewhat lopsided in nature. Gallon recently made the move to Bellator and has won both fights since, taking his streak to 4 straight and his overall record to 20-7-2. Brander is 15-8 overall, but he has not been very good of late, losing 4 of his last 7 fights. He has fought in Bellator once before, losing that one. I like Gallon to get this one done quickly via KO.

Yoel Romero (-160) Vs Alex Polizzi (+135)

The co-main event of the night is a Light Heavyweight bout and one that features a fighter in desperate need of a win. That would be Romero, who at 45 years of age, appears to be on the slide. Losing 4 in a row ahead of this bout. Compare that to Polizzi, who is sitting at 10-1 in his career and who comes into this fight having won each of his last 3. This, though, still feels like a step up in class for Polizzi, which is why I think he could be in trouble against the veteran.

Ryan Bader (-355) Vs Cheick Kongo (+285)

We have some unfinished business to attend to with the main event, which is for the Bellator Heavyweight Championship. This is a rematch from a No Contest these guys had a couple of years back. Bader comes in as the champ, going 29-7 in his career to this point. Kongo is 31-11-2, but he has only managed 1 win and a draw in his last 3 fights. A good matchup here, but one that I think the champion wins by KO.
