Bellator 245: Davis Vs Machida 2 Odds & Picks

Written by on September 9, 2020

While it may not come with the glitz and glamor associated with the UFC, Bellator is still home to a lot of great fighters, many of whom will make the jump to the big show if things go particularly well. Besides the up and coming fighters in MMA, we also get to see some guys who were once a name in the UFC, with Lyoto Machida very much among that group. He will be in the headline event of Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Uncasville, but there are also 3 other fights on the main card. Let’s take a look at the Bellator odds for the 4 main card bouts, while also tossing in some predictions along the way.

Davis Vs Machida 2 Betting Preview – Bellator 245

Raymond Daniels (-355) Vs Peter Stanonik (+285)

The main card is set to go at 10 PM EST on DAZN and begins with a welterweight bout that features a fighter who has made a very positive start to life in Bellator. That fighter would be Raymond Daniels, who has won both of his bouts thus far, with both wins coming via TKO in the opening round. This will be the first Bellator appearance for Stanonik, who has bounced around a little and compiled a 5-4 record along the way. I think we are looking at another quick win for Daniels in this one.

Ed Ruth (-290) Vs Taylor Johnson (+235)

It’s the middleweights who are up next in what looks to be a very competitive matchup. Ed Ruth comes into this one with an 8-2 record, but he has been a little hot and cold of late, goings 2-2 in his last 4 fights. His most recent defeat was a decision loss at the hands of Yaroslav Amosov. This will be the first fight under the Bellator banner for Johnson, who brings a 5-1 record with him into the Octagon. It’s always tough to know how a fighter will do when taking that step up, but I have a feeling that Ruth will prove to be too much for the newbie.

Cat Zingano (-830) Vs Gabby Holloway (+580)

Listed as a co-main event, this featherweight bout sees a veteran of the UFC move to Bellator and into a different division. Cat Zingano fought as a bantamweight in the UFC, but after losing 4 of her last 5 fights and turning 38, she became less of a draw. Her hope is to quickly rise up the featherweight ranks in Bellator, starting out with this one. She has been out of the ring for 2 years with an eye injury, but you still have to like her chances against Holloway, who is 6-5 and making her first start at this level.

Phil Davis (-340) vs Lyoto Machida (+270)

The headline bout of the night is a light heavyweight fight that is actually a rematch between a pair of great fighters. It has been 7 years since that first bout, which was a win for Davis at UFC 163. Davis, who is 21-5 overall, has been on a good run for form in Bellator, winning back to back fights and 2 of his last 5 overall. This is just the 4th fight for Machida (26-9) in Bellator, and he will be looking to bounce back after a loss the last time out. Unfortunately for Machida, I think this one goes the way of the first meeting.
