Not all MMA event cards are created equal, and while the Bellator 289 main card may be a small one, it has 4 great fights that make it an absolute must watch. We have a title fight in the mix, as well as an interim championship bout, so a lot of potentially great action coming our way. This event is set for Friday night, starting at 5:30 PM EST. Besides the main card, there are also a number of solid prelim bouts that you can catch on YouTube before we get to the heart of the action. If you want to tune into the main card, you can do so if you have a subscription to Showtime. Now that we know what this main card is all about, let’s dive into the 4 bouts and make some Bellator Betting predictions.
Bellator 289 Betting Preview | MMA Analysis
Dalton Rosta (-1000) Vs Anthony Adams (+451)
A quick look at the odds shows that we have the potential for a rather lopsided affair in this Middleweight bout. Rosta is a huge favorite for this one, and for very good reason. He comes in with a perfect 7-0 record, with all of those wins coming in Bellator. 4 wins were inside the distance. At 9-2 overall, Adams is certainly no slouch, but he does lack experience at this level, winning his lone bout under the Bellator banner. I have Rosta taking this one by KO late in the fight.
Magomed Magomedov (-140) Vs Patchy Mix (-102)
The next fight up is a Bantamweight bout that is actually a championship semi-final, so a lot on the line in this one. Magomedov is an impressive 19-2 in his career, but he is looking to climb back after losing to Stots, who is fighting later in this card. He did get the win last time out. Mix is 16-1 overall and is coming into this bout having won 3 in a row, with 2 of those victories coming inside the distance. I think we see this one going the distance, with Magomedov getting the decision.
Liz Carmouche (+133) Vs Juliana Velasquez (-196)
The co-main event of the night is a rematch for the Bellator Flyweight Championship, with Carmouche in as the defending champion. Carmouche comes into this one with a 17-7 record, but that includes a 4-fight win streak that includes a win over Velazquez last time out. She is now 4-0 with Bellator. Velazquez went 12-0 to start her pro career before taking a 4th round loss to Carmouche in the last fight. I don’t see her losing 2 in a row, which is why I am on here to get the win here.
Raufeon Stots (-158) Vs Danny Sabatello (+110)
We close the night out with a battle for the Bellator Interim Bantamweight Championship, and you have to say that this is a truly fantastic matchup. Stots comes in with an 18-1 record, which includes going a perfect 6-0 under the Bellator banner. 3 of his last 5 have gone the distance. Sabatello has a similar record at 13-1 overall and 3-0 with Bellator. He has a streak of 5 straight fights going all the way. I think this one goes the distance, with Stots getting the decision nod.
