The fight action gets off to an early start this coming Saturday, with Bellator off to London, England for the Champions Series.
This event is set to begin at 12 PM EST and is available to watch live via MAX.
My Analysis of Bellator Champions Series London
This event comes with an absolutely massive main card, but what we are going to do here is try to narrow it down to a handful of bouts that appear closer to the top of the main card.
In all, we are going to be taking a look at 5 fights, with odds and predictions for each one.
There are some truly fantastic matchups to enjoy here, so let’s get right to it.
^Archie Colgan -214 vs Manoel Sousa +139
We get things started with a Lightweight bout and a pair of fighters who are looking to defend perfect records.
Colgan comes into this one with a 10-0 record, with 7 of those wins coming under the Bellator banner. Each of his last 3 fights have gone the distance.
Sousa has gone 1 win better than his opponent, winning each of his first 11 fights as a pro, although just 1 win at this level.
Manoel will put up a good fight, but I think he ultimately loses by decision.
^Marc Diakiese -290 vs Tim Wilde +180
It’s another Lightweight bout up next on the main card, although these fighters are not as perfect as those in the opener.
Diakiese won his last bout, snapping a 2-fight win streak to move to 17-7 overall. It is worth noting that all his losses came with the UFC.
Wilde is coming off a loss in his last fight and now sits at 5-2-1 in his time with Bellator.
The experience that Diakiese brings to the table should serve him well here, and I like him for the decision win.
^Luke Trainer -752 vs Laurynas Urbonavicius +360
We move up to Light Heavyweight for the next fight, which features a pair of fighters who are not used to losing.
Trainer comes into this bout with an 8-1 record as a pro, and a 3-fight win streak.
Urbonavicius has a very respectable 14-1 record ahead of this bout, and while that is certainly not to be sneezed at, it is worth keeping in mind that this is a big step up for him.
I like Trainer for the KO win here.
^Simeon Powell -575 vs Rafael Xavier +310
This Light Heavyweight bout serves as the co-main event of the evening, and at first glance, it appears to be a bit of a lopsided affair.
Powell is the heavy favorite here as he looks to bounce back from his first pro loss, dropping to 9-1 in the process.
Xavier is 13-7 overall and has won each of his last 2 fights, but this is a definite step up in class that I don’t think he will be able to handle.
^Leah McCourt -123 vs Sara Collins -122
You need only look at the odds for the main event, which is a Featherweight bout, to see that this is the most evenly matched fight of the night.
McCourt, who is 8-3 overall, has had difficulty with consistency, going 3-2 in her last 5 bouts. She is 7-2 with Bellator.
Collins is perfect at 5-0, but this will be her toughest bout yet as she looks for her 3rd win with Bellator.
I like this one to go the distance, with Collins edging it.
