Trevor Bauer under investigation for alleged assault

2020 Cy Young winner and current Los Angeles Dodgers starter Trevor Bauer is facing allegations of assault. The Pasadena Police Department said it is investigating the assault, which supposedly happened in May.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court granted the woman a domestic violence restraining order. The alleged victim’s attorney, Mark Garelick, said in a statement, “Our goal is to keep Mr. Bauer from contacting our client in any way possible. We anticipate there will be criminal action against Mr. Bauer, and it is our hope law enforcement will take our client’s allegations and case seriously.”

This could be a huge deal for the Dodgers. Currently, Bauer is third in the rotation behind future hall of famer Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler. Not only that, but the Dodgers are in a dog fight with San Francisco and San Diego for the NL West Division.

Kyle Schwarber hits 16th home run in 18th game

Washington Nationals’ lead off hitter Kyle Schwarber sent a pitch from Rich Hill into the stands on Tuesday night to hit his 16th home run in the past 18 games.

A remarkable feat for sure. What makes it more remarkable is that Hill allows a .143 batting average to left-handed hitters like Schwarber. No left-handed hitter blasted a Hill pitch into the stands in either 2019 or 2020.

Schwarber, who used to play for the Chicago Cubs, is having a reawakening type season. He’s finally hit his groove as a pro. In 2021, Schwarber has not only hit 25 home runs but he’s also batted in 53 runs. Schwarber’s OPS is a very good .911.

Even GM Cashman knows the Yankees are bad

As of June 29, the New York Yankees are 7.5 games behind the rival Boston Red Sox for first-place in the deep AL East Division.

The Yankees trail the Red Sox, the Tampa Bay Rays, and the Toronto Blue Jays. New York is ahead of one team, the Baltimore Orioles. The O’s are 23 games behind the Red Sox.

Things have gotten so bad that even the Yankees’ general manager, the man who built the current team is calling out NYY.

Per Cashman, “We suck right now. As bad as we can be.”

Cashman placed blame on himself. That doesn’t matter to the Yankees and their fans. There’s time for NYY to turn it round.

NYY ranks 10th in Team ERA. But the Yankees rank 23rd in runs per. So even though the Yankees’ starters have thrown well, NYY can’t hit. To consistently win in Major League Baseball, you must have decent hitters and great pitchers.
