Writer’s Picks for the Fourth Week of the NCAAF Season
Marshall at 3 Ohio State O/U Odds: 51.5
Saturday, September 21st, 2024
Marshall gave up 31 points to Virginia Tech in their last game.
Although the Herd scored just 12, the fact they gave up 31 to VA Tech should embolden over players in Marshall’s Saturday matchup versus Ohio State.
The Buckeyes won’t hold back in this.
OSU will have a shot to get the over by themselves.
A 59-0 score is possible. Ohio State only must score 52.
So over is the best play.
NCAA Week 4 Totals Pick: Over 51.5
NC State at 21 Clemson O/U Odds: 44.5
Saturday, September 21st, 2024
Versus App State, Clemson’s offense bounced back in a big way.
In their first game, the Tigers scored 3 points against Georgia in a blowout loss.
Clemson dropped 66 onto Appalachian State.
NC State gave up 51 to Tennessee in a loss.
The Wolfpack scored 30 against La Tech in a 30-20 victory in their third game.
Clemson should move the football versus the Wolfpack while NC State’s offense appears to have gotten into gear.
Go over to cash.
NCAA Week 4 Totals Pick: Over 44.5
Kent State at 10 Penn State O/U Odds: 55.5
Saturday, September 21st, 2024
This game happens on the Nittany Lions’ field, which means Penn State rolls.
The Lions haven’t scored more than 34 points in any game.
Penn State should score at least 42 in this.
But to get the over, the Golden Flashes must also score.
That may not happen.
Kent State lost 71-0 to Tennessee in their last.
The Golden Flashes are the worst team in college football this NCAAF season.
Penn State will do their part for over players but the Flashes won’t.
Under is the call.
NCAA Week 4 Totals Pick: Under 55.5
11 USC at 18 Michigan O/U Odds: 44.5
Saturday, September 21st, 2024
A +270 prop parlay has USC at -5.5 to a 47.5 total.
The non-prop parlay total is at 44.5, which tells us under players are all over this being a defensive struggle.
It’s difficult seeing these two not scoring enough points for the over to hit.
USC scored 48 against Utah State in a 48-0 victory.
Michigan can move the football and will contribute around 17 to 20, like LSU in USC’s first game, because this happens in Ann Arbor.
The Trojans should score at least 28 to 35.
Michigan’s defense isn’t playing great football and likely would have allowed Fresno State to score 20 or more if not for a couple of Fresno State mistakes in Michigan’s red zone.
Go over.
NCAA Week 4 Totals Pick: Over
UCLA at 16 LSU O/U Odds: 56.5
UCLA is a horrendous football team.
The Bruins barely escaped Hawaii with a victory in a 16-13 snorer.
Then in their second game, Indiana, not the basketball team, the football team, dominated, yes, dominated the Bruins 42-10.
LSU doesn’t play shut down defense like they did in the past.
So the Bruins could score 10 in this.
That will be enough for the over because the Tigers drop at least 49.
NCAA Week 4 Totals Pick: Over 56.5
12 Utah at 14 Oklahoma State O/U Odds: 52.5
Saturday, September 21st, 2024
Although Utah plays good defense, the Utes are going to have to score to beat the Pokes in Stillwater.
Oklahoma State is 3-0 after scoring 44 against South Dakota State, 39 against Arkansas in a game that went to two overtimes, and 45 against Tulsa.
The Utes scored 38 in their last.
Utah is going to have to pick up the pace on offense to ensure a victory, which means this game has a big chance of going over the total.
NCAA Week 4 Totals Pick: Over 52.5

How does it work?
What are Over/Under Bets in College Football? Let’s Find Out
Over/under bets, often called totals, let you wager on the combined score of both teams in a college football game.
The sportsbook sets a number for the total points expected to be scored, and you decide if the actual score will be over or under that number.
For example, let’s say the over/under for the NC State vs. Clemson game is set at 48 points.
- If you think both teams will score a lot, you would bet the over.
This means you expect the combined final score to be more than 48 points.
For instance:- NC State: 27 points
- Clemson: 24 points
- Total: 27 + 24 = 51 points (You win the bet because 51 > 48)
- On the other hand, if you believe it will be a tough, defensive game, you would bet the under.
This means you think the total score will be less than 48 points.
For example:- NC State: 21 points
- Clemson: 17 points
- Total: 21 + 17 = 38 points (You win the bet because 38 < 48)
Here are more examples:
- Example with Over Bet:
- Over/Under: 55 points
- Final Score: NC State 31, Clemson 30
- Total: 31 + 30 = 61 points (You win the bet because 61 > 55)
- Example with Under Bet:
- Over/Under: 45 points
- Final Score: NC State 20, Clemson 17
- Total: 20 + 17 = 37 points (You win the bet because 37 < 45)
- Close Call:
- Over/Under: 50 points
- Final Score: NC State 24, Clemson 27
- Total: 24 + 27 = 51 points (You win the bet if you chose over, as 51 > 50)
- If it were 23-24, the total would be 47 points (you win if you chose under).
Understanding over/under bets helps you on knowing not just who will win, but how the game will play out in terms of scoring.
Before placing your bet, consider factors like each team’s offense and defense, recent performances, and injuries.

2019 College Football Week 4 Over/Under Betting Picks
Previous Betting News
It’s always a little daunting to look at the upcoming weekend schedule in college football and try to figure out what games you should wager on. I find that it’s always best to take some time to narrow down those options to a few good plays that you really like. That is how I go about things every week, and what we have here are a selection of my favorite O/U picks for Week 4 of the college football season.
If you don’t regularly play the point total, we will also have ATS and SU picks out there for you, too, so be sure to be on the lookout for those. For now, let’s get to my O/U College Football Week 4 betting picks.
2019 College Football Week 4 Over/Under Betting Picks
Southern Miss Eagles at Alabama Crimson Tide (OVER 61)
Every year, coach Nick Saban is questioned about the schedule that his team plays in the lead up to the start of their SEC conference games. While Saban consistently defends the weak schedule, he does have a point in that it must be tough finding teams looking to get pasted by the Crimson Tide.
We should have another lopsided win for Alabama this weekend, with the Southern Miss Eagles preparing to be served up on a platter. The Crimson Tide have seen the OVER hit in each of their last 2 games, scoring a combined 109 points on the process. They should do enough to get the OVER again this week.
Tennessee Volunteers at Florida Gators (UNDER 48 ½)
This is a match-up that has very much gone the way of the Gators in recent years, with Florida winning 9 of the last 10. While you would certainly expect the Gators to win again in their own building, there is definitely something to consider in terms of the point total.
Feleipe Franks, the starting QB for Florida, went down with a brutal season-ending injury in Florida’s win last week, which makes you wonder just how effective their offense will be this weekend. 7 of the last 10 meetings between these two have gone beyond the point total, but I think this one goes UNDER.
Michigan State Spartans at Northwestern Wildcats (UNDER 39 ½)
If you are a fan of wide-open football and lots of points hitting the board, this game may well prove to be one to avoid. On the face of it, an average of over 39 PPG looks decent enough, but the Spartans scored 51 in an easy outing against Western Michigan. Take that out of the equation and you have a team managing just 17 PPG.
Northwestern are not much better, so not a lot of offense likely here. In fact, each of the last 7 games that Michigan State has played against Big Ten opposition have gone UNDER.
Oklahoma State Cowboys at Texas Longhorns (OVER 74 ½)
This game is likely to be the polar opposite of the last game on our list here, as these are two teams that certainly know their way into the endzone. Lat’s week’s 40-point outing against Tulsa was the Cowboys lowest offensive output of the season, which should tell you a little something about what they can do when the offense has the football.
For Texas, all 3 of their games this season have gone OVER, which should be the case this weekend, as I expect this thing to turn into a shootout from the opening whistle.

Previous Betting News
No college football betting totals out as of this writing, but I can speculate on these games and they will quite likely be the two highest-scoring games of the week so I would go over whatever high number is posted later Monday on NCAA football lines.
Here’s a Look at the Top College Football Week 4 Over/Under Betting Picks
Oklahoma State at No. 16 Baylor (-9.5)
The Bears now carry the weight of the entire Big 12 as they are the only 3-0 team in the conference. But Baylor also has played an incredibly easy non-conference schedule. The Bears closed their non-Big 12schedule with a 38-10 win over Rice. The pass-and- catch combo of Seth Russell and KD Cannon were the headliners. Russell completed 22-of- 38 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns, including nine for 213 yards and two TDs to Cannon. Terence Williams and JaMycal Hasty combined for 184 yards and two rushing TDs. Shock Linwood’s 57 yards rushing were the fourth-best on this night. But it was enough for him to finally supplant Walter Abercrombie at the top of Baylor’s all-time career rushing list with 3,675 yards. Russell improved to 11-0 as the starting quarterback, threw for 337 yards on the day and passed a milestone himself, becoming just the 12th player in program history to pass for over 4,000 career yards (4,096). Baylor has now started 3-0 in each of the last 6 seasons. Baylor has won 53 games since 2011, most in the Big 12 Conference. Baylor has rushed for a touchdown in 31 consecutive games, the longest active streak among Power Five conference teams. Baylor improved to 11-0 in September games since 2013 — the Bears’ last September loss was on Sept. 29, 2012 at West Virginia (70-63). Baylor is 44-2 since 2010 when allowing less than 35 points and 15-20 in that span when allowing 35+ points.
OSU (2-1) beat Pittsburgh 45-38. Mason Rudolph connected on an 86-yard pass to Jhajuan Seales, then Rennie Childs scored on a 1-yard run — his fourth rushing touchdown of the game — with 1:28 remaining to lift Oklahoma State to the win. Rudolph was 26 of 46 for 540 yards and two touchdowns, while James Washington pulled in nine receptions for 296 yards — the most in the nation by anyone so far this season — and two touchdowns. Childs gained 101 yards on 10 carries. OSU set a school record for total offense in a half with 467 yards in the first half. The previous record of 424 was set in the first half vs. Savannah State in 2012. Rudolph set an OSU record for passing yards in a half with 372 in the first half. The previous record of 328 was set by Brandon Weeden vs. Tulsa in 2010. Rudolph finished with 540 yards passing, ranking as the most in a game in OSU history and the most since Brandon Weeden threw for 502 yards against Kansas State in 2011. Rudolph’s total matched Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes (vs. Arizona State) for the best single-game tally this season. Washington set an OSU record for receiving yards in a half with 231 yards receiving in the first half. The previous record was set when Adarius Bowman had 219 in the second half at Kansas in 2009. Washington finished with 296 yards receiving, ranking as the second most in a game in OSU history, trailing only Adarius Bowman’s 300-yard outing at Kansas in 2006.
No. 17 Arkansas at No. 10 Texas A&M (-6)
Arkansas (3-0) is off a 42-3 win over Texas State, improving the Hogs to 2-0 vs. Texas teams this year after also beating ranked TCU. Quarterback Austin Allen threw for a career-high 241 yards on 16-of- 21 passing with two touchdowns. Allen spread the ball around to seven different receivers, finding Keon Hatcher and Jeremy Sprinkle for the two scores through the air. Running back Rawleigh Williams led all players with 121 yards on 19 carries, scoring twice. Freshman Devwah Whaley saw his largest output of his young Razorback career with 11 carries for 50 yards. The Hogs held the Bobcats to only three points on 105 yards of offense, 26 in the first half. It was the lowest offensive output for an Arkansas opponent since the Hogs held Texas to only 59 yards in the 2014 Texas Bowl. Arkansas is now a winner in nine of its last 10 games. It is the second 3-0 start under head coach Bret Bielema and seventh 3-0 start to a season since 1998.
Texas A&M (3-0, 1-0 SEC) beat Auburn 29-16 on Saturday. A&M freshman running back Trayveon Williams sealed the victory with an 89-yard touchdown run with 6 minutes, 52 seconds left for a 29-10 lead. It was the longest rush by an Aggie since Christine Michael’s school-record 97-yarder against Baylor in 2009. It was the longest rush by an Aggie since joining the SEC in 2012. That came two plays after A&M senior defensive end Daeshon Hall tackled Auburn’s John Franklin III for a 1-yard loss on fourth-and- 3. It was one of 13 tackles for a loss by the Aggies. Trevor Knight passed for 247 yards and Daniel LaCamera had five field goals. Junior DE Myles Garrett was a monster against the Tigers with two QB sacks, 2.5 tackles for loss and a QB hurry. With his two QB sacks, Garrett moved within one of the SEC’s career sacks list with 27 sacks in the first 28 games of his career. The Aggies sacked Auburn four times and made 13 tackles behind the line of scrimmage. It was the sixth time in 16 games under John Chavis that the Aggies have piled up 10 or more TFLs in a game. Definitely like the over in NCAAF betting in both games.
