NCAA Football Game Lines: UT Martin Skyhawks vs Georgia Bulldogs, Week 1

NCAA Football Game Lines: UT Martin Skyhawks vs Georgia Bulldogs, Week 1

While we got a little taste of college football this past weekend, we get the full meal deal this coming Saturday with the official start of Week 1. There are some midweek games to look forward to, but the majority of the action comes on Saturday, which includes the 2-time defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs starting their road to what they hope is a three-peat. There are some massive games in Week 1 of the season, and while it will be fun to see the champs back on the field, this one is more like a warm-up game for the Dawgs. The Skyhawks will head to Athens knowing that they are looking at a drubbing, but just how bad will it be? Check out the NCAAF odds for this game.

Why bet on the UT Martin Skyhawks

This is not a team that a lot of people are going to know very much about, so let’s see if we can clear up some of the mystery for you guys. The Skyhawks play in the Big South-OVC and are coming off a season where they went a respectable 7-4. They scored a ton of points last season, thanks in large part to the play of QB Dresser Winn, but he will not be in the team this season, as he is now plying his trade in the NFL with the LA Rams. In terms of going against bigger schools, UT played Tennessee last season, losing that one by a score of 65-24. While they know that they are going to be getting another heavy beating this weekend, this is still a great opportunity for a small school to play in a huge environment, so hopefully they will enjoy the experience.

Why bet on the Georgia Bulldogs

As a team, the Georgia Bulldogs have nothing left to prove after winning back-to-back National Championships. Don’t tell that to the new guys on the team, though, as they definitely have something to prove. That includes Carson Beck, who will be taking over from Stetson Bennet at QB, with some absolutely massive shoes to fill. Beck certainly looks the part and was more than solid in the brief appearances that he made over the last couple of seasons. Sure, there is always some concern when a new QB takes the reins, but I’m sure he will be fine, and a game like this to start the season should help calm the nerves. How long he plays remains to be seen, as I’m sure we’ll see a lot of guys get time on the field this Saturday.

NCAAF Expert Pick and Series Prediction

I fully expect the Georgia Bulldogs to come out and put on a bit of a show, but you do have to wonder how long they will keep their foot on the gas against a much lesser opponent. A comfortable win for the Dawgs and one where the new QB should get a chance to get comfortable and put up some numbers.
