G2 Esports vs Lynn Vision
- When: Wednesday, October 13 – 12:30 CEST
G2 Esports enter their opening match of BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown as heavy favorites to defeat Lynn Vision, which makes perfect sense. G2 Esports are the current fourth-highest ranked team in the world, while Lynn Vision are only 144th, which explains why the Chinese squad are priced as high as +1600 to cause an upset.
However, as good as G2 Esports are on paper, their recent performances leave a lot to be desired. Since they made it to the finals of Intel Extreme Masters XVI – Cologne in July, G2 Esports struggled to show anything.
They crashed out of ESL Pro League Season 14 with a 0-5 record in August and have added another disappointing fifth-eight finish at the LAST Premier: Fall Groups 2021 last month. What’s more, G2 Esports haven’t won against any good team in over two months.
Despite fielding a very stacked roster, something isn’t clicking in G2, which makes it very hard to trust them – even against a significantly weaker team such as Lynn Vision.
The Chinese representatives enter the BLAST Premier as one of the weakest teams in the field. They haven’t won a single top-tier tournament and aren’t even the strongest team from their region.
Regardless, the offered round line of +7.5 underrated Lynn Vision a bit. And it’s not even about Lynn Vision being stronger, but rather about G2 Esports struggling with their form.
I don’t expect Lynn Vision to win, but winning nine rounds against the slumping European giants should be achievable.
Prediction: Lynn Vision +7.5 rounds
OG vs paiN Gaming
- When: Wednesday, October 13 – 15:30 CEST
OG will clash with paiN Gaming on Wednesday, in the first-ever meeting between these two CS:GO teams. Hailing from Brazil, paiN aren’t expected to achieve much at BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown, and while there is a world where they beat out some other underdogs, we don’t believe they will stand a chance against OG.
OG are ranked 10th in the global rankings and have plenty of accolades to show for. In June, OG made it to the finals of Intel Extreme Masters XVI – Summer and placed top-four at the ESL Pro League Season 14 in September.
While those are OG’s only notable tournament runs of the year, we have to value their recent showings more than what OG have produced earlier in 2021. As evident from those tournament placements, OG are by no means one of the top European teams; however, they have proven time and time again that they can compete with the best.
Constantly underrated, OG have the tools to challenge for titles, and the BLAST Premier just might be the tournament where they finally prove that.
Unlike OG, who have shown a lot of late, paiN haven’t. Even though they have managed better placements in events they have attended, it’s not like paiN participated in any tough competitions.
What’s more, paiN have managed only a third-place finish at Intel Extreme Masters XVI – Winter: North American Qualifier, which is hardly worth celebrating.
OG shouldn’t struggle against paiN. Take the European squad to defeat paiN Gaming in straight maps.
Prediction: OG -1.5 maps
