Top Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Games to Wager on Friday, February 11

BIG Academy vs Spirit Academy

  • When: Friday, February 11 – 15:00 CET

WePlay Academy League Season 3 playoffs’ first match will see BIG Academy clash with Spirit Academy in what promises to be a close affair. BIG stumbled a bit en route to the playoffs, as they suffered three defeats and picked up only two wins – on the other side, Spirt Academy will enter the playoffs on a six-game winning streak and favorites to advance into the next stage.

As the latest CS:GO betting odds suggest, this should be a very closely contested match, but most bookies prefer Spirit Academy, which makes sense. They have been showing an excellent form of late, and given BIG Academy’s slip-ups, it’s fair to expect the Russian squad to collect a win.

Still, there isn’t much to separate these two teams talent-wise, so if the Germans can find some traction ahead of Friday, they should be able to put up a good fight. The question is can BIG Academy find a solution for their inconsistencies?

Looking at their recent performances, BIG Academy won three of thier last five outings, against Enterprise (2-0), Into The Breach (2-1), and eSuba (2-0), but lost against Dignitas (0-2) and Sinners Esports (0-2).

Meanwhile, Spirit Academy picked up five straight wins over the same stretch with wins against VP.Prodigy (2-0), Eternal Fire Academy (16-12, 16-8), and FURIA Academy (16-8, 16-8). But even though Spirit have managed a better win rate, they also had to face weaker opponents, so we wouldn’t overreact to their success.

Spirit Academy should win, but we don’t expect them to stomp BIG Academy. Expect a close match that will end on the third map.

Prediction: Over 2.5 maps

MOUZ NXT vs Astralis Talent

  • When: Friday, February 11 – 18:00 CET

The question for this match is not so much whether MOUZ NXT can win, but rather if Astralis Talent can cause any damage to the reigning champions. MOUZ NXT are the clear favorites to win the WePlay Academy League trophy – as they did in the previous two iterations of the competition – and the betting odds on them clearly indicate that.

MOUZ NXT, while an academy team, have been competing at a higher level for most of 2021 and have achieved reasonable success, so it’s very evident that they’re a level above most other academy squads. Astralis Talent, meanwhile, had a terrible run through the WePlay Academy League S3 group stage (2-6). Still, they produced a miracle run in the Play-In stage, beating Fnatic Rising, NAVI Junior, and Young Ninjas to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Admittedly, Astralis Talent impressed us with their showing in the Play-In stage, but it’s fair to doubt their chances to defeat MOUZ NXT. As the odds suggest (+300), Astralis Talent’s chances to win are slim to none, and we don’t have a reason to argue with that.

Despite their moment of greatness in the Play-In stage, Astralis Talent don’t have the players to compete with MOUZ NXT, who are clear favorites to win the league for a reason. So trust the favorites to get it done in straight maps!

Prediction: MOUZ NXT -1.5 maps
