Bank of America ROVAL 400 Race Odds: Top Drivers & Expert Analysis in the NASCAR Playoffs

This weekend represents the last chance to stay in the playoffs for several drivers in the Cup Series.

The Round of 12 is heading into the final race, with this one coming in Charlotte on Sunday afternoon, and there are some drivers who are a little too close to the cut line for comfort.

Bank of America ROVAL 400 Odds for NASCAR Race Sunday
1. Shane Van Gisbergen | 3068 points
2. Kyle Larson | 3044 points
3. Tyler Reddick | 2069 points
4. Chase Elliott | 658 points

My Cup Series Analysis of Bank of America ROVAL 400

The winner of this one, assuming that they are still part of the playoff picture, will automatically book their spot into the Round of 8, but the others are going to need to sweat it out and hope that they pick up enough points to live to fight another day.

With all of that in mind, the Bank of America ROVAL 400 is a huge race, so let’s take a look at the current favorites to win.

^

Shane Van Gisbergen +360

Van Gisbergen will be focusing most of his attention on the Xfinity Series, where he is still in the playoffs and looking for a championship.

He will almost certainly be a factor here, too, as he has proven himself to be something of a road course specialist over the years.

Shane has only ever won once at the Cup Series level, with that one coming on the streets of Chicago, but his skill on road courses cannot be ignored, so you might want to take a shot at a top 3 pick.

Kyle Larson +650

Any time you see a road race on the schedule, you have several drivers that immediately come to mind as potential winners, with Larson very much in that group.

Larson, who is currently sitting 3rd in the driver standings, will almost certainly be moving on, but he would also love to pick up another playoff win and keep himself up near the top, as that would certainly help his cause moving into the next round with an eye on the final four.

He already has a road course win in Sonoma this season, while also winning this race a couple of years back.

Larson looks to be a good bet to be in the top 3.

Tyler Reddick +770

Reddick is one of the drivers who needs a good run this weekend, as he is currently sitting down in 7th and a little too close to the cut line to relax.

It hasn’t helped that he has not been in particularly good form of late, with a 20th place finish being his best showing over the last 4 races.

If he falls outside the top 20 again this weekend, there is a better than average chance that his playoff run will come to an end.

On the bright side of things, he has been in the top 10 in this race in 3 straight seasons, but a top 5 is the high bar here, I believe.

^

Chase Elliott +900

Winning a championship Is hard, but winning it twice is harder still Elliott is a few years removed from his first Cup Series championship, and he is now on the brink of going out in this round.

He is currently holding on to the final spot, but there are 4 drivers who are well within reach and who could potentially knock the former champ out of the playoffs.

Elliott won this race when he finished the season as champion, so might he be ready to repeat that run?

I’m going to take Elliott to win here.

NASCAR Cup Series Bank of America ROVAL 400: This is a huge weekend for NASCAR fans, as it signals the final race in the Round of 12 in the battle to become the Cup Series champion. | NASCAR Lines | MyBookie Sportsbook

A pair of spots in the final 8 have already been claimed, but there are still 6 more to fill, which will happen in Charlottle this weekend. This is a great way to end the round, with the drivers taking to the Roval road course for a race that is going to certainly suit some drivers more than others. Could this prove to be the deciding factor in who moves on and who has to start thinking about next season? The bookies have their NASCAR odds posted for the Bank of America Roval 400, so let’s take a look at a few of the top drivers.

Denny Hamlin

While he has not yet secured his spot in the Round of 8 with a win, Hamlin has almost certainly done enough to move on at this point, as he is currently sitting in 3rd in the driver standings. He does, though, have a win in the postseason, taking the checkered flag in Bristol just a few short weeks ago. Hamlin is also on a run that has seen him finish no worse than 5th in his last 4 races, which is exactly the type of form a driver wants to be in at this late stage of the season. While he has not had a ton of success on this track in recent seasons, his current form means you cannot totally rule him out.

William Byron

If we are going to talk about getting hot at the right time, then we need to have Byron in the conversation. He won the opening race in the Round of 12 to book safe passage into the final 8, but rather than resting on those laurels, he came very close to making it 2 in a row, finishing 2nd last weekend in Talladega. He looks like a good bet again this weekend, especially when you consider that his last victory came on a road course, which is exactly what he will be racing on this Sunday. I might be willing to play a few bucks on Byron to win.

Kyle Larson

Over the past couple of races, Larson has been heading in the wrong direction, putting together back-to-back runs that were less than impressive. That run of form now has him sitting down in 7th and far from being a lock to move on to the final 8. If there is a positive to be found here, it’s that Larson has a tendency to do well on road courses, which includes a win on this very track in his Cup Series winning season in 2021. While he may not need the win here, he does need a strong showing to get back in the championship hunt.

Martin Truex Jr.

After a brilliant showing in the regular season, it’s beginning to look as though Truex Jr might be running out of steam coming down the stretch. He has not been particularly great in the playoffs, but he would still be in the top 8 if the cut were made today, but that’s not how any of this works. He needs a big run this weekend, and given what he has done on this track in recent years, I’m not so sure he delivers the goods.
