Dover Duel: Betting Analysis & Picks to Win the NASCAR Würth 400

It’s time, once again, to hop on board the NASCAR train, with Dover being the next stop on the season long journey

MyBookie Motor Racing | 2024 NASCAR Live Betting | NASCAR Cup Series: Würth 400

It has been an exciting start to the new season, with no one driver truly looking as though they are ahead of the pack. In fact, we are seeing a new winner just about every week, so it’s tough to know what to expect from race to race. While that is fun for fans of the sport, it can be a little more challenging for those of us who like to wager on the races every weekend. We are here to help as best we can, which means taking another long look at the upcoming race this Sunday, which is the Wurth 400 in Dover. The bookies have their odds put together and we are going to look at some of the drivers that might well be in the hunt to take the checkered flag. The odds listed here are to win the race, but please remember that you can also wager on top finishers, which is perfect for those of you who like to take less of a risk. Enough with the chatter, let’s get to the drivers.

NASCAR Race Odds and Favorites to Win Würth 400

  • Kyle Larson +450
  • Martin Truex Jr. +610
  • Denny Hamlin +750
  • Ross Chastain +750
  • William Byron +750
  • Christopher Bell +1025

Kyle Larson

We are 10 races into the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, and it is Larson who finds himself on top of the driver standings. He will, though, be looking to snap out of a bit of a mini slump, as he has failed to crack the top 20 in each of the last 2 races. There is every reason to believe he can do that given that he had back-to-back podium finishes before that, but you do have to question whether or not he will be able to get back to winning ways on the Dover track. He had a very poor showing in this race last season, finishing 32nd overall in that one, but he has also been in the top 10, including a 2nd place finish, in recent races on this track. I’m not sure I would play Larson to win this weekend, but a top 10 is not out of the question.

Martin Truex Jr.

Truex Jr. is now very much a veteran of the Cup Series and is well aware of what it takes to stay alive and get to the playoffs. He is still looking for his first win of the season, but he has also been picking up points consistently, which is why he is currently sitting in 2nd in the driver standings. Truex Jr. is proof that you don’t need to go on a mad winning spree in the regular season, as it really is all about doing enough to stay in the top 16. That’s not to say that he doesn’t want to win, as he almost certainly does, and Dover might be where it happens. He won this race last season and was in a very similar position to where he is this year. I would not be surprised to see him land in the top 5 this weekend.

Denny Hamlin

It has been something of an unpredictable start to the season for Hamlin, who currently sits in 6th in the driver standings. While there have been races where he has been well off the pace, like he has been in the last couple of weeks, he also has a pair of wins to his name. He is doing more than enough to stay within striking distance of the lead, but I am also sure that he would like to try and be a little more consistent as the season progresses. I think he has a chance to get back among the leaders this weekend in Dover given that he ran in the top 5 in this race last season. Yes, the last couple of weeks have been rough, but I think he can crack the top 10 on Sunday.

Ross Chastain

A 2nd place overall finish in 2022 had many believing that it was only a matter of time before Chastain picked up his first Cup Series championship. He failed to live up to that hype last season, and while he did make it to the playoffs again, Chastain fell in the Round of 12, settling for a 9th place overall finish. As it stands right now, that is the exact position that he is placed in the driver standings, as he is still looking for his first win of the season. He has been in the top 10 4 times, but I think we might expect more this weekend. Over the last 2 seasons, Chastain has landed on the podium twice in this race. I would be willing to take a chance on him winning it this weekend, especially at these odds.

William Byron

While the wins this season have been spread out across several different drivers, it is Byron who leads the way in victories with 3. The biggest of those wins came in the opening week of the season when he won the Daytona 500, but he also has wins in Martinsville, as well as the road course at the Circuit of the Americas. Over the past month or so, Byron has been arguably the most consistent driver in the Cup Series, finishing in the top 10 in 5 straight races, with 2 wins in that mix. When you consider that he was 4th in this race last season, he strikes me as a good bet to be a top 5 finisher this weekend.

Christopher Bell

With back-to-back trips to the Championship Round in the last 2 seasons, the expectation is that Bell is going to win a championship sooner rather than later. Id that is to happen in 2024, he is going to need to pick up the pace a little, as he finds himself down in 13th in the driver standings, which is perhaps a little too close to the cut line for comfort. Still, there is plenty of time to put things right, and with a win in Phoenix this season, Bell has proven that he very much has what it takes to win on any given weekend. He has been in the top 10 in Dover in each of the last 2 seasons, so expect more of the same on Sunday.

2023 Odds for Würth 400

The NASCAR Cup Series season is moving along quickly, with 10 races now officially in the books. That is more than enough to get a handle on all the drivers, and what is becoming rather clear right now is that no real championship favorite is emerging. The wins have been spread out across several different drivers, which means that we could well be in for an exciting run to the playoffs. Yes, talking about the NASCAR playoffs at this early stage of the season is not the smartest thing to do, but picking up points and getting into the top 16 is what this sport is about, so it’s always in the back of everyone’s mind. This weekend, the action shifts to Dover for the running of the Wurth 400. Let’s take a look at the current NASCAR odds.

NASCAR Cup Series: Würth 400 | NASCAR Lines

When: Sunday, April 30 at 2:00 pm ET
Where: Dover Motor Speedway
TV / Streaming: FS1
Radio: PRN, SiriusXM

Kyle Larson

NASCAR Odds: +500

Larson delivered a season for the ages when he won the Cup Series in 2021, but he found things a good deal tougher last season, finishing 7th overall in the driver standings. While getting back to the form that won him a championship a couple of years ago is not going to be easy, he is up among the leaders this season. Larson already has a pair of wins under his belt and is already just 1 win shy of the 3 victories he delivered last season. As for his performances in Dover, he was 6th last year and 2nd the year prior, so taking him to be in the top 5 this weekend seems like a good bet.

William Byron

NASCAR Odds: +670

2022 proved to be a bit of a breakthrough for Byron, as he cracked the top 10 in the overall driver standings for the first time in the Cup Series. Of course, the goal is always to get better with each passing season, and you have to say that Byron is holding up his end of the bargain with a couple of wins already in 2023. He has, though, been inconsistent at times and could use a strong showing this weekend in Dover. He did have a top 5 run on this track a couple of years back, which might be the best we can hope for this weekend.

Chase Elliott

NASCAR Odds: +740

There is always some level of pressure on every driver, no matter where they are in the overall standings. For Elliott, the pressure may be higher than most, as he needs to find a way to start racking up points to get back into the playoff race after missing 6 weeks through injury. It is going to take time for him to get comfortable behind the wheel again, which is why playing him to win at this point still feels like a little bit of a risk. Elliott won this race last season and was 3rd the year prior, so this may be his breakout run.

Christopher Bell

NASCAR Odds: +910

The standings after 10 races don’t tend to be the same as they end up once the season is over, but for now, Bell has the top spot. He has been on the podium 3 times this season, which includes a win in the Bristol Dirt Race. His showing this season is not altogether shocking, though, as he finished strong in 2022 and ended up in 3rd overall in the Cup Series standings. He ran 4th in this race last year and has to be seen as a threat on Sunday.
