Dana White’s Contender Series 44 Betting Analysis

Written by on October 18, 2021

We are coming off what was a very exciting weekend of MMA action, but the good news is that you don’t need to wait until next weekend to get your fill of fighting. Tuesday night will see Week 8 of Dana White’s Contender Series, which is an event used to help find new talent for the UFC while not officially being considered a UFC event. Still, when you have Dana White’s name attached, it more than implies that a shot at getting into the big time in MMA may well be on offer. The past 7 weeks of action have been fantastic, so we should expect more of the same from the 5 fights that are on tap for Tuesday night. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming fights and analyze them so you can bet against their MMA odds.

MMA Betting Preview for Contender Series: Season 5, Week 8

James Barnes Vs Pedro Falcao

The evening begins with a Bantamweight bout between a pair of fighters with very similar records. Barnes comes in with a 14-3 record and a run that has seen him win 3 in a row and 4 of his last 5 fights. The majority of his bouts end inside the distance. Falcao is also on a 3-fight win streak, a run that has taken his record to 14-4. His last 3 wins all came in the opening round. Falcao is the KO specialist and I think he gets another one here.

Armen Petrosyan Vs Kaloyan Kolev

Next up we have a Light Heavyweight bout with an unbeaten record being put on the line. Petrosyan is 5-1 and coming off a win that he picked up after taking his first career loss. None of his 6 fights have gone the distance. Kolev, on the other hand, is on fire to start his pro career after jumping out to a 10-0 record. 7 of his 10 wins have come in the opening round. I like Kolev to remain unbeaten with a KO win in this one.

Caio Borralho Vs Jesse Murray

This one is another Light Heavyweight bout, with both fighters coming in on a very good run of form. Borralho started out his pro career by splitting his first 2 fights, but he has rolled since then, winning 8 in a row to get to 9-1. Murray is 8-3 and has reeled off 3 straight wins after a little bump in the road saw him lose back-to-back fights. I like Borralho to keep his impressive streak alive, but he might need to go the distance to do it.

Valesca Machado Vs Piera Rodriguez

The women are up next for what looks to be a very well matched Strawweight bout. Machado had some struggles in the early part of her pro career, going 2-2 in her first 4 fights. Since then, though, she has been solid, winning 6 in a row. There have been no such issues for Rodriguez, as she is a perfect 6-0 in her career, with numerous quick finishes under her belt. I like Rodriguez to keep her unbeaten streak alive with a win here.

Solomon Renfro Vs Jonny Parsons

Week 8 of the Contender’s Series closes out with a Welterweight bout at the top of the main card. Renfro started out as a pro by winning 6 in a row before taking his first loss. He has rebounded from that to win each of his last 2 fights. Parsons comes in with a 7-2 record and a positive run that has seen him win each of his last 4 fights. This looks like a very good matchup, but I think it will be Renfro who gets the KO win.
