The march to a world championship is often a tough slog, with ups and downs along the way.
That is not how things have gone over the last couple of seasons in Formula 1, though, as Max Verstappen has had things wrapped up early in each of the last 2 years, which takes away some of the excitement of the sport.

My Analysis
Still, each race on the F1 schedule represents an opportunity for another driver to step up and try to knock the champ off his perch, which is what happened in the previous race, which we will get to in a moment. This weekend, the action shifts to Italy and the running of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which fans will be glad to see back on the calendar after the race was postponed last year due to heavy rains that made racing impossible. As always, we are going to take a look at the latest Formula 1 favorites, with no real surprises to be found.
^Max Verstappen -410
Verstappen has been the clear favorite in each of the 6 races this season, but he has not proven to be totally unbeatable, as he has come up short in 2 of them. He was forced to retire in Australia in the 3rd race of the year, while having to settle for 2nd place in the Miami Grand Prix last time out. He will be looking to get back to winning ways, with this race perhaps being the perfect opportunity for him to do so. The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix has been run twice, with Verstappen winning both outings. He will be out for the three-peat on Sunday and looks like the obvious pick.
^Lando Norris +680
We have all being waiting for Norris to have a breakout season in Formula 1, and this might well be the year that we finally see it happen. This is not to suggest that he is set to challenge Verstappen for the championship, but you do get the sense that he is on course for his best ever finish. Norris is currently sitting in 4th in the driver standings, thanks in large part to his first ever win in Formula 1, with that one coming in Miami, where he held off Verstappen to take the checkered flag. He has had a pair of podium finishes besides that win, so it’s easy to see why he is up near the top. He finished 3rd in each of the last 2 runs in this Grand Prix, so let’s take him to finish on the podium again.
^Other Drivers To Consider F1 Odds
As we said at the top of this piece, it is a familiar cast of characters who are in among the favorites for the 2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. That includes Charles Leclerc (+1050), despite the fact that he has been unable to crack the top 3 both times he has taken part in this race. You also need to take a look at Sergio Perez (+1675), the teammate of Verstappen. He finished 2nd the last time we had this race, so he is another driver that you might want to consider as a potential top 3 finisher in Italy.

2022 F1 Emilia Romagna
Last season, we saw a changing of the guard, with Max Verstappen claiming his first World Championship while denying Lewis Hamilton his record-setting 8th. Heading into this season, the expectation was that those drivers would once again be in a 2-horse race for the crown, but things have not played out that way at all. Both Verstappen and Hamilton have had their issues through the opening 3 races of the year and find themselves a good way off the pace currently being set by Charles Leclerc. This weekend, the drivers will be in Italy for Round 4 of the 2022 F1 season, and it may come as a surprise to learnt that Hamilton isn’t really up among the favorites. Let’s take a look at the current odds for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Italy so you can place your bets against the Formula 1 Odds.
F1 Betting Odds Analysis and Predictions for the 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix Race
Charles Leclerc (+100)
In his second full season in F1, Leclerc took a massive step forward, winning a couple of races and finishing 4th overall. He has failed to live up to the expectations set that season in the following two years, while also failing to win a race during that stretch. A few people tipped him to be better this season, but it is fair to suggest that he has exceeded all expectations to this point. Through the opening 3 races of the season, Leclerc has 2 wins and a 2nd place finish under his belt. He is setting the tone early, but can he keep it going, and can be better his 4th place finish in this race last season?
Max Verstappen (+255)
To say that it has been an up and down start to the season for the defending champion is perhaps putting things a little too mildly, He failed to finish in the opening race of the season, although he was given credit for completion given the percentage of the race he completed. That was followed by a win, which made it appear as though Verstappen was back on track, but he then followed that up with a retirement in his last outing. He is down in 6th right now and well off the pace, and while it is still early, Verstappen cannot afford to fall any further behind. He won this race last season.
Carlos Sainz (+320)
Over the past 3 seasons, Sainz has managed to finish either 5th or 6th overall. That is a decent enough showing, but again, no one really thought he would be pushing for a championship this season. He is currently 3rd in the driver standings after picking up a pair of podium finishes through the opening 2 races. He might have been higher had he not been forced to retire last time out. Sainz finished 5th in this race last season, but given his start to the 2022 season, we might expect something a little better this time around.
It has not been the greatest start to the season for Lewis Hamilton, who is currently residing down in 5th in the driver standings. If you believe that he is still a force in F1, then you might be interested in taking a shot on him this weekend at very tempting odds of +2100.
