Cloud9 vs. Eternal Fire

Group D Upper Bracket Quarterfinals
September 20th, 2023 – 1:20 EDT

Cloud9 and Eternal Fire will clash in the first match of Group D at ESL Pro League in what should be a very one-sided game. Cloud9 are priced as big favorites to defeat the Turkish squad, which makes a lot of sense – even though C9 haven’t looked amazing since the roster rebuild.

During the summer break, Cloud9 rebuilt its CS:GO lineup and signed what looks like one of the most stacked CIS rosters we’ve seen in years.

However, despite the raw talent, Cloud9 have struggled to win a single tournament. In their defense, C9 needed some time to adjust to the new roster.

Eternal Fire are a good second-tier team, but they’re nowhere near being considered top contenders to win big events such as the ESL Pro League Season 18. But they’ve done well against other elite squads and might be able to take advantage of C9’s shaky form.

Still, that’s a bit too optimistic since even though Cloud9 aren’t playing at 100%, they’re still significantly better than EF. Something will have to go terribly wrong for Cloud9 to lose this series.

Complexity vs. 9INE

Group D Upper Bracket Quarterfinals
September 20th, 2023 – 1:20 EDT

Complexity are the current top-rated North American CS:GO team, but that doesn’t mean much. Complexity have not won or come close to winning a single notable event in 2023, and things likely won’t change anytime soon.

9INE are a second-tier European CS:GO team, but despite not belonging to the group of elite squads, they’re still expected to crush Complexity, and that sounds fair. 9INE have been playing solid CS:GO over the last couple of months. They won RES Western European Masters: Fall 2023 last week and performed admirably well at Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023 and Gamers8 2023.

Even though this is a match between NA’s no.1 team and Europe’s no.17, it’s very hard to justify backing Complexity.

Team Liquid vs. Virtus.pro

Group D Upper Bracket Quarterfinals
September 20th, 2023 – 10:00 EDT

Since Team Liquid rebuilt its roster during the summer break, they’ve not looked good with early exits from Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023 and Gamers8 2023. This roster would never achieve anything remarkable, so their lack of success is hardly surprising.

However, having Team Liquid priced as +225 underdogs against Virtus.pro seems a bit too much.

Virtus.pro are in much better form than Liquid, having won four of their last six games and even made it to the second round of Gamers8 2023, where they beat FaZe Clan (2-1) and lost against G2 Esports (1-2).

However, since then, VP also played three-map series against Aurora (2-1), 1win (2-1), and Team Spirit (1-2), which aren’t great results and suggest that VP might not be as dominant on Wednesday, as the odds suggest.

VP will likely win, but Team Liquid should be good for at least one map.

Lynn Vision vs. G2 Esports

Group D Upper Bracket Quarterfinals
September 20th, 2023 – 10:00 EDT

As the offered betting odds suggest, this should be an extremely one-sided game. G2 Esports are one of the best CS:GO teams in the world, whereas Lynn Vision aren’t even the top-rated team from China, and considering how much stronger the European region is, the gap between the team is as massive as the esports betting odds suggest.

We don’t have to overcomplicate things. Take G2 Esports to win both maps with at least five rounds to spare.

ESL Pro League Playoffs Prediction: G2 Esports -4.5 rounds (Map 1&2) -160 | Bet Lynn Vision vs. G2 Esports Today
