eSports Events for the Weekend: Top Dota 2 Matches to Bet On

EHOME Vs Elephant – Dota Pro Circuit 2021: Season 2 – China Upper Division

  • When: Sunday, April 18 – 19:00 CST

EHOME and Elephant will clash on Sunday, April 18, during the first week of DPC 2021: Season 2 – China Upper Division. It will mark the first match of the tournament for Elephant, while EHOME will get a chance to warm up against Royal Never Give Up, who they’ll face on Friday, April 16.

While having a game under their belt to get in the rhythm should help EHOME, it will also give Elephant a better idea of how EHOME approach their games. That said, it’s not like these sides don’t know each other well.

EHOME and Elephant met four times in 2021, and it was EHOME who won three of those bouts, including all of their last three meetings. Each of those games ended in a 2-0 sweep, including their clash at i-League 2021 at the start of April.

Being 3-1 up in head-to-head this year, it should not come off as a surprise. EHOME are priced as favorites to win this bout, and we don’t see a problem with that. Their last meeting was relatively close, but EHOME proved to be the stronger team, with better decision-making and a much superior late game.

Even though Elephant are a very strong team, they stylistically don’t match up well with EHOME, and we don’t expect that to change until they show they’re willing to approach their games with a different style. Since Elephant are a “snowbally” team, we can imagine them winning one map, but ultimately, you can’t bet against EHOME for this bout.

Prediction: EHOME to win

Team Unique Vs PuckChamp -ESL One CIS Online Season 2: Upper Division

  • When: Sunday, April 18 – 16:00 MSK

Team Unique and PuckChamp last met in March 2021, when PuckChamp bested Unique 2-1 at EPIC League S3 Division 2. That was also their first and only clash in their history, and if that result is any indication, we should be in for another tight affair on Sunday.

Since that bout, Team Unique replaced Yaroslav “Pikachu” Vasilenko with Rostislav “fn” Lozovoi, which should make them a better team largely due to fn’s experience. PuckChamp, meanwhile, have not made any roster changes since the team came together on January 13 but have added Ivan “Artstyle” Antonov as their coach.

Team Unique are 7-5 since the start of March, which is not exactly spectacular, nor is it particularly bad. During that stretch, Unique picked up a few big wins against the likes of Tundra Esports (2-0), Nemiga (2-1, 2-1), and Team Empire.

PuckChamp enter this match straight after winning the EPIC League Season 3 Division 2, where they lost only one map en route to the title. Their performances at that tournament, however, don’t mean much since they haven’t faced anyone besides Unique and Prosti Esli (twice).

Earlier in March, PuckChamp also attended the Snow Sweet Snow #2 and were involved in the upper division of the EPIC League, where they did not impress. They finished the Snow Sweet Snow #2 in third after dropping series against Vikin.gg (0-2) and Hellbear Smashers (1-2), and lost all three bouts in EPIC League against Vikin.gg (0-2), Team Empire (1-2), and HellRaisers (1-2).

PuckChamp should be slightly favored to win, but with their form, they shouldn’t be priced as low as they are. This should be a close match that can go both ways, which is why we’re placing a bet on Over 2.5 maps and a smaller stake on Team Unique.

Prediction: Over 2.5 maps

Prediction: Team Unique to win

AS Monaco Gambit Vs Team Spirit – ESL One CIS Online Season 2: Upper Division

  • When: Sunday, April 18 – 19:00 MSK

The second ESL One CIS Online Season 2 match of the day will see AS Monaco Gambit take on Team Spirit. It will mark the 18th time these two sides will meet and only the second time in 2021.

Spirit last met with Gambit during the first season of ESL One CIS, when Monaco won 2-1. However, the match was played way back in February, so we shouldn’t put too much weight on that result. What’s more, Spirit had to play without Miroslaw “Miroslaw” Kolpakov, who got replaced by Vitaly “so bad” Oshmankevich.

Spirit have since parted ways with so bad and are expected to play with Miroslaw for this match. On the side of Gambit, there were no roster changes outside of signing Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko as a permanent member after he has spent two months with Gambit as a stand-in.

Since that win, Gambit went on to attend the ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021, where they failed to reach for the stars, yet still managed to pick up a few impressive wins against Team Nigma (2-0), Team Liquid (2-0), and T1 (2-0). They could have also made it into the playoffs had they not lost the reverse fixture against Liquid (0-1) in the tiebreaker match.

Regardless, Gambit have proven they can compete with the best, which should, in theory, make defeating Team Spirit an easy task. While Gambit were trying to make a name for themselves at the Major, Team Spirit made it to the finals of EPIC League Season 3 Division 1, where they had to admit defeat to Vikin.gg (1-3).

Despite their unfortunate loss, Team Spirit looked extremely solid throughout the tournament. They put together six consecutive wins, dropping only one series (12-1) in the process, and even swept Vikin.gg (2-0) in the semifinals before they got crushed in the finals.

While we should give Team Spirit some praise for their showings throughout March, it’s important to note that they faced weaker opponents than Gambit. The latter have not only won their previous head-to-head bout but have also played significantly better opponents of late and looked very solid at it.

Prediction: AS Monaco Gambit to win
