FTW vs AGO
FTW made it to the second round of ESL Challenger League Season 43 with a direct bye, earned with their performance at ESL Pro League Season 16. The Portuguese squad haven’t really achieved much at the ESL Pro League, crashing out of the group stage with a 0-5 record, so we wouldn’t overvalue their direct invite.
On the other side, AGO started their ESL Challenger League Season 43 campaign in the first round, where they defeated Team Falcons, with a fairly convincing performance. AGO won the first map 16-9, and even though they needed overtime to win on Dust II (19-17), they looked very good doing it.
AGO and FTW have never met before with their current lineups, which makes it tough to say how this affair will go. This are two fairly evenly skilled teams, so talent-wise, you can’t pick a side. But if we look at the team’s form, AGO are in a much worse spot – they’ve won just one of their last five outings and lost against HAVU (0-2), 9INE (0-2), Tricked Esports (0-2), and Anonymo (4-16).
Meanwhile, FTW are 3-2 across their last five, with wins against Movistar Riders (2-1), SC (2-0), and ENTERPRISE (2-0). Their only two losses came against Eclot (1-2) and Ungent (0-2). Even though FTW look stronger on paper, they’ve been losing against teams weaker than AGO, so at the offered betting odds, we have to side with AGO to come out ahead.
Prediction: AGO to win
9INE vs forZe
9INE received a direct bye into the second round of the playoffs, whereas forZe had to make it past Fnatic Rising, who they beat 2-0 on Wednesday. It marked forZe’s third victory over the last five outings, which includes wins against IKLA (2-1) and HAVU (2-0) and losses against Tricked (1-2) and Copenhagen Flames (0-2).
9INE share the same 3-2 record over the same stretch with wins against BLUEJAYS (3-2) in the finals of ESL Challenger League Season 42: Europe and back-to-back wins against ENTERPRISE esports (2-0) and AGO (2-0). 9INE’s only two losses came against Anyonmo (6-16) and Young Ninjas, which isn’t too bad.
ForZe are arguably much stronger than 9INE and the offered betting odds would confirm that. Still, 9INE have been playing well lately and have shown enough for us to believe that they can cause an upset. Or, at the very least, 9INE should be able to put up a fight and force a close series, forcing the match to three maps.
Prediction: Over 2.5 maps
