Best Dota 2 DPC EUW Division I Predictions & Betting Analysis for January 9th

OG vs Tundra Esports

Tundra Esports didn’t make any roster changes ahead of the 2023 DPC season, which is hardly surprising. Tundra won The International 2022 and were very dominant throughout the 2022 season, so making any roster moves wouldn’t make much sense. The question is, however, whether Tundra can be as dominant in 2023 as they were in 2022.

It’s honestly hard to doubt them, especially in the opening tour of the 2023 WEU DPC. As a team that kept its roster intact, Tundra have an added advantage over other teams as they won’t struggle with synergy as some teams that added new players likely will. Moreover, it’s not like Tundra have any evident weaknesses, granted they were by no means the most dominant team in WEU last term.

OG made just one roster change, adding DM as their new no.3, while keeping the rest of the roster intact. Much like it is the case with Tundra, seeing OG keep its lineup fairly untouched is hardly surprising, considering the success OG had last season.

They won DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division I, ESL One Stockholm, and ESL One Malaysia, and were quite good in other events. Besides the three gold medals, OG also picked up bronze from Tour 3: Div I, reached the semi-finals at Riyadh Masters, were fourth at PGL Arlington Major, and finished TI 2022 in seventh-eighth.

OG were 3-6 against Tundra Esports in 2022 with a 6-10 map record, so OG are rightly priced as underdogs. Nevertheless, OG seem a bit underrated at +240. We like OG to win at least one map.

Prediction: OG +1.5 maps

Team Liquid vs Team Secret

Team Liquid made just one roster change ahead of this season by adding Nisha, who replaced MATUMBAMAN, which looks like a very good move. We wouldn’t say that Liquid will be instantly much stronger with Nisha, but they should have a much higher ceiling, which is scary considering how good Liquid were in 2022.

Team Liquid placed third at TI 2022, which, admittedly, was their only notable achievement since early season when they won DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 1: Division I, placed second in Regional Finals, and secured bronze in Tour 2: Div I. Still, we have to put more weight on late-season results.

Team Secret also made just one roster change, bringing in a new no.2, Boom, who the team believes will help Secret take one step further this season. In 2022, Secret had a very similar journey to Liquid, with somewhat iffy results throughout the season and a strong finish.

They placed third at ESL One Malaysia 2022, reached the semis at Riyadh Masters 2022, and made it to The International 2022 grand finals, only to lose against Tundra Esports. But regardless of the bittersweet ending to the season, Secret should feel confident in their chances to compete for the Aegis of Champions in 2023.

On paper, Liquid and Secret look fairly evenly matched, and while Liquid might seem stronger with Nisha, Secret look far more appealing at +110. Anything above evens is a solid choice.

Prediction: Team Secret to win
