Top Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Games to Wager on Thursday, February 3

Eternal Fire vs Sprout

  • When: Friday, February 3 – 15:00 CET

Eternal Fire won both their opening Elisa Invitational Winter 2021 matches, but they had it easy. The Turkish CS:GO squad first won against Lynn Vision Gaming (2-0), to which they added another 2-0 sweep against the Australian team, LookingForOrg. But while Eternal Fire had to face relatively weak squads, they were clearly the better team in both outings.

Against Lynn Vision, Eternal Fire dropped only 18 rounds across the two maps and kept the Chinese squad below double digits on Inferno (16-9) and Dust II (16-9). Eternal Fire were just as convincing with their performance against LookingForOrg, who they swept with 16-12 on inferno and 16-3 on Vertigo.

Like Eternal Fire, Sprout made it to the third round with a perfect record. They first swept Team Finest (2-0), with 16-10 on Overpass and 16-8 on Vertigo, and added another 2-0 sweep against Dignitas, who they beat 16-11 on Mirage and 16-14 on Ancient.

Sprout was just as convincing as Eternal Fire while playing against more challenging opponents, suggesting that the German squad should pick up another win on Thursday. But yet, the esports bookmakers have Sprout priced as +125 underdogs.

Admittedly, Eternal Fire look stronger on paper, but this match is very close to 50/50, so we have to take the outsiders to show up and hand the Turkish superteam their first defeat of the tournament.

Prediction: Sprout to win

ECSTATIC vs Savage

  • When: Friday, February 3 – 18:00 CET

ECSTATIC have been playing surprisingly well of late. In fact, they have been playing so well that the community started to suspect them of cheating. You can judge whether that’s the case, but ECSTATIC had some sketchy games recently.

ECSTATIC enter this bout with a perfect 2-0 record and a +17 map difference. They have already won against ENTERPRISE esports (2-1) and AGF (2-1), which is nothing to write home about, but it was enough to help them reach the third round.

Their next opponents, Savage, have been just as impressive and have yet to drop a game this tournament. However, they have played only one game (2-0 against AGO) and were awarded a forfeit win against BLINK.

Besides the two games, Savage have also appeared in a couple of other games, but they weren’t particularly successful. The Swedish squad are 2-3 across their last five, with wins against Team Unique (2-1) and AGO (2-0), and three losses against SAW (0-2), Sprout (1-2), and MOUZ NXT (1-2).

Due to their recent slip-ups, it’s fair to doubt Savage’s chances to win. But like Savage, ECSTATIC have had some iffy games recently, namely against Entropiq (1-2) and K23 (1-2).

There isn’t much to separate these two teams talent-wise, and it’s hard to find a solid case for either of them. We prefer ECSTATIC slightly, but not enough for us to believe they can win with a clean sweep.

 Prediction: Over 2.5 maps
