Entropiq vs Astralis
- When: Wednesday, April 6 – 15:30 CET
Entroipiq and Astralis will clash on Wednesday, April 6, in the opening round of the ESL Pro League Season 15 playoffs. It will mark their second meeting and first since January 22, when Entropiq won 2-1, with 13-16 on Ancient, 16-8 on Nuke, and 16-13 on Overpass.
Entreopiq fought their way into the playoffs through Group A, which they finished with a 4-1 record and a +18 round difference. Over the five games, Entropiq’s only defeat came against the eventual group winners, Ninjas in Pyjamas (0-2), but they won against MOUZ (2-0), LookingForOrg (2-0), G2 Esports (2-1), and Fnatic (2-0).
Admittedly, Entropiq had a relatively easy group, largely because G2 underperformed, but they still deserve some respect for their performances last month.
Astralis were seeded into Group D, alongside AGO, Evil Geniuses, Complexity, Heroic, and Natus Vincere. The Danes ended the group in third place with a 3-2 record, including wins against EG (2-0), AGO (2-0), and Complexity (2-1), and two defeats against Heroic (1-2) and NaVi (1-2).
Since Astralis had a tougher group, we should give them some respect for winning three maps, but realistically, they only won against AGO, Complexity, and EG, who are not exactly top-tier teams.
Entropiq is priced at around +125, which should be fair, but they have a solid chance of coming out ahead. This is a 50/50 match, so we have to side with the outsiders to take down the Danes.
Prediction: Entropiq to win
Heroic vs Team Liquid
- When: Wednesday, April 6 – 19:30 CET
Heroic had some shaky moments in Group D, but they still ended in second, with a 4-1 record. Their only loss happened against the current no.1 team in the world, NaVi (0-2), but Heroic looked good in all of their four wins against AGO (2-0), Evil Geniuses (2-0), Astralis (2-1), and Complexity (2-0).
Team Liquid qualified for the playoffs through Group C, which did not feature many big name-teams. And yet they barely made it through with a 3-2 record and a +24 map difference. Over the five games, Liquid won against BIG (2-0), GODSENT (2-0), and Party Astronauts (2-0), but they couldn’t deliver against Movistar Riders (1-2) and Players (0-2).
Results like that clearly show that while Liquid can do well against weaker teams, they’re not too efficient when faced with proper top-tier squads. And that won’t do them any favors against Heroic, who are one of the main candidates to win the ESL Pro League.
Team Liquid are priced as high as +225 for this bout, which is fair, and their chances to win are slim to none. Heroic are just a much better team from top to bottom and should get the job done in straight maps.
Prediction: Heroic -1.5 maps
