Today, we take a look at the second round of matches in Group C on Thursday, March 24. Here are our selections for Players vs Movistar Riders and Team Liquid vs GODSENT, providing you with all the information you’ll need to place bets against their Counter-Strike odds.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Games to Wager on Thursday, March 24
Players vs Movistar Riders
- When: Wednesday, March 24 – 12:30 CET
Due to ESL’s ban of all Russian esports organizations with ties to the Russian government, Gambit Esports wasn’t able to attend ESL Pro League Season 15. However, its players were still eligible to participate in the event as long as they didn’t represent Gambit’s colors – and that’s how a new team, “Players,” was born.
In other words, Players are the same team as Gambit Esports, so it isn’t surprising to see them priced as massive favorites to defeat Movistar Riders, who enter this match as +650 underdogs. The offered betting odds seem fair, considering Players are one of the top teams in the world, whereas Movistar Riders are not even close to reaching that status.
But that does not mean we’re in for a complete stomp by the Russian squad. Admittedly, this is the second-highest rated CS:GO roster in the world (Movistar Riders are no.34), but as we know, the Russians don’t do too well on LAN.
That’s not to say that they will lose, but based on what we saw happen in Group A and Group B, there is a chance this match will be much closer than expected. Movistar, although weaker than Players, are worth a shot with a 5.5 round advantage on both maps.
The Spanish squad won’t win, but winning 11 rounds should be achievable.
Prediction: Movistar Riders +5.5 rounds (Map 1 & Map 2)
Team Liquid vs GODSENT
- When: Wednesday, March 24 – 19:30 CET
Team Liquid are priced as favorites to defeat GODSENT, which does not sound right, and it seems like the CS:GO betting odds on this match are set based on the brand value alone. Liquid might be one of the most recognizable names in the NA CS:GO scene, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re not good.
They’re 3-2 across their last five outings, which might sound great, but we have to consider the quality of the teams Liquid had to face.
They lost against G2 Esports (0-2), which is fine, but they also lost against Complexity (14-16), which is concerning. Moreover, Liquid needed 35 rounds to make it past Team oNe (19-16).
Admittedly, GODSENT are 1-4 in their last four and even lost against Team oNe (1-2), GamerLegion (1-2), and ATK (10-16), but that doesn’t explain why they’re +125 underdogs for this match.
It’s not that GODSENT are better than Liquid, but rather that Liquid aren’t as good as many people seem to believe. We also have to keep in mind that the ESL Pro League Season 15 has seen many upset wins, and for whatever reason, top teams aren’t doing too well.
Expect a very close series that can easily reach the third map. We might even see GODSENT upset Liquid, but a bet on over 2.5 maps makes the most sense.
