FaZe Clan vs Rise Esports

  • When: Wednesday, October 27 – 12:00 PDT

FaZe Clan and Rise Esports last met during VCT 2021: North America Stage 3 Challengers 2, when FaZe won a closely-contested series in the third round of the lower bracket with 2-1.

FaZe went on to eliminate Luminosity from the tournament and made it all the way to the grand finals, where they had to admit defeat to TSM (1-3).

FaZe have played three official games since then and won only one against Luminosity (2-1), but had to admit defeat to 100 Thieves (0-2) and Team Envy (1-2) during the NA Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs. Rise Esports have played just as many games and managed the same 1-2 record.

However, unlike FaZe, Rise had to face much tougher opponents, including the current no.1 North American squad, Sentinels, who they took a map off (1-2). What’s more, Rise even won against the Stage 3 Challengers champions TSM (2-1) in August.

Rise might have lost to FaZe last time out, but they’re 1-1 in the head-to-head, so it’s fair to say that they can put up a fight and potentially even win on Wednesday. What’s more, this will be both teams’ first match in over two months, which should introduce some ring rust and a far more open affair with no clear winner.

A bet on Rise Esports at +100 or over makes a lot of sense, but we like Over 2.5 maps better. There isn’t a lot to separate these two teams quality-wise, suggesting we could be in for another close series.

Prediction: Over 2.5 maps

Cloud9 Blue vs Version 1

  • When: Wednesday, October 27 – 15:00 PDT

Cloud9 Blue are priced as heavy betting favorites for their clash with Version1. That makes a lot of sense, largely because Version1 lost a lot of star players in recent months.

Most notably, Version1 parted ways with their in-game leader, Anthony “vanity” Malaspina, who has since joined Cloud9 Blue. With vanity on the team, Cloud9 should have a massive tactical edge over Version1.

Admittedly, Cloud9 Blue haven’t achieved much this year; however, this is now an entirely different roster with far more talent. That was already very noticeable during Nerd Street Gamers: Summer Championship title in August, where Cloud9 Blue dropped only two maps en route to the title.

Even though the tournament featured mostly tier-two teams, Cloud9 Blue have shown enough for us to say that this is a much stronger version than C9 from three months back.

Version1 still have some solid pieces, but we don’t know what to expect from this squad since we haven’t seen them play since late July. And even then, Version1 had a much more stacked roster than what they have now. To make matters worse, Version1 haven’t won a single match across their last six.

There are many unknowns for this bout, but it’s easy to see why Cloud9 Blue are considered heavy favorites.

Prediction: Cloud9 Blue -1.5 maps
