My Analysis

As we all know, though, there can only be one winner, but if you have been following this tournament as closely as I have, you are all probably well aware that no clear favorite has emerged.

The pair of teams that started the tournament as the favorites have not really performed at their best, but now that it’s do or die, perhaps they will up their game.

With the bracket now set, we are going to get the crystal ball out and come up with 3 potential finals and their outcomes. Maybe we will nail one, or maybe none of them will play out. Let’s dive in.

Spain vs England

For me, Spain has been the best team in the tournament to this point. They have looked good going forward and have yet to surrender a goal on the defensive side of the field.

They have had 5 different players score their goals and look like a team that is very much together. Furthermore, they look like a good bet to go to the final.

England have arguably the strongest squad in this tournament, but the consensus is that they are being hampered by the defensive nature of their manager, Gareth Southgate.

If you remember, though, they heard the same thing in the last Euros, when they made it all the way to the Final, only to lose to Italy.

The two can definitely step up a gear or two, so you cannot count them out.

Germany vs Austria

How cool would it be to see these two close neighbors meet up in the final?

The Germans were a little up and down during the group stage, although they set the bat very high with their 5-1 win over Scotland to open the tournament.

Both have had problems living up to that, but playing at home is a massive edge.

No one really gave Austria too much of a chance coming into the tournament, but they have been one of the more entertaining teams to watch and look capable of giving anyone a run for their money.

Given the side of the bracket they are on, it would not be a total shocker to see them go to the final.

France vs Italy

France are just a couple of years removed from a trip to the World Cup Final, with many fans and pundits believing that they are the team to beat in this tournament.

Both have not played particularly well, though, and have surprisingly struggled to score goals. They have tournament experience that could carry them through.

While the group stage performance from Italy was far from memorable, it really is just all about surviving and moving on.

They have achieved that goal, and if they can get past a very tricky matchup against Switzerland in the Round of 16, they might just get on a roll.
