F1 – 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix: Race Info and the season, Top 3 to Win, Final Pick

Formula 1 is a sport that seems to be in a state of constant flux, with the powers that be making rule changes in hopes that we will get a more level playing field.

With 7 different race winners this season, I think it is fair to say that those rule changes are having an impact that most will see as being positive for the sport as a whole.

Today’s F1 Top Favorites to bet on the Sao Paulo GP
1. Lando Norris | 315 points
2. Charles Leclerc | 291 points
3. Carlos Sainz Jr. | 240 points

My 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix Analysis

With 4 races remaining in the 2024 season, we have a world championship race that is closer than we have seen in quite some time, but are the remaining races going to be enough for us to see a new champion crowned this season?

Only time will tell, and all we can do is take it one race at a time. The next one up is the Sao Paulo Grand Prix in Brazile this Sunday, so let’s take a look at the current odds.

^

Lando Norris +156

At this stage of the proceedings Norris finds himself 47 points behind Verstappen at the top of the driver standings.

That is a margin that can be cut over 4 races, but Norris needs to be damn near perfect the rest of the way to oust the defending champion.

Over the last 6 races of the season, Norris has won twice and has been no worse than 4th during that stretch, so I think it is definitely fair to say that he is doing his part.

A win, though, would really start to ser the cat among the pigeons, and with Norris finishing 2nd in this race last season, I think he is a solid pick to get the win this weekend.

Charles Leclerc +248

If you are looking at previous runs in this race, Leclerc becomes something of a tricky pick, as he did not start the Sao Paulo Grand Prix last season.

If you go back a year prior, which was his best showing in quite some time, you see that he finished 4th overall in Brazil, which suggests that he might be a factor once again on Sunday.

Over the last 7 races, Leclerc has been on the podium 6 times, while also winning a pair of those races, so he is certainly a good pick for a top 3 finish, although I am not totally sold on him as the winner of this one.

Carlos Sainz Jr. +470

While he is well off the pace being set by the drivers at the top of the standings, Sainz Jr. comes into this race with some momentum, winning in Mexico last weekend, which was preceded by a 2nd place finish in the US.

If he can maintain that current form, he is a very decent bet to be on the podium again this weekend.

He finished 6th in this race last year but did land on the podium the year prior.

Drivers to Consider this Weekend

It’s easy to forget that this is just the 2nd full season in F1 for Oscar Piastri (+760) when you consider how good he has been this season.

He might be worth the risk of a top 3 wager on Sunday. We do still have to talk about Max Verstappen (+1100), even though he is going to have a tough pole position due to a penalty.

It’s always tough to totally rule him out.

2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix: As we head into the final 3 races of the F1 season, the goal now is to try and make some money to close out the year. F1 Odds and Lines | MyBookie Sportsbook

There are some F1 fans who will ride with Verstappen the rest of the way, even though his odds are never that great heading into any race. Another option is to wager on drivers to land on the podium, or to perhaps find spots where Verstappen might be a little weaker than usual. We may well have that type of situation arising this weekend in Brazil with the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. We will get into that in a moment when we talk more about Verstappen and what he has done this season. We will also look at some drivers who could potentially spring the upset this weekend. With all of that said, let’s look at the potential winners and their F1 odds.

Max Verstappen

It has been an astonishing season for Verstappen, who has now won 16 of the 19 races to this point in the season. He heads to Brazil this weekend looking for his 4th straight win as he looks to close out the year without losing another race. As we slightly touched on above, this is one race where it might not be a bad idea to bet against the champion. Verstappen finished 6th in this race last season, while finishing 2nd the year before that. Given how often he wins races, that is something that could be considered a bit of a surprising streak. That said, he looks much more ahead of the pack than at any other time over those last 2 years, so it would still be a massive risk to bet against him.

Other Drivers to Consider

It has been a long time since we have seen Lewis Hamilton (+730) stand on the #1 spot on the podium, but he is still a driver that needs to be considered this weekend, especially when you look at his past performances in this race. He finished 2nd in Brazil last year and won there the year prior, so he is certainly worth looking at as a top 3 finisher.

Lando Norris (+1250) is certainly a longshot if you are looking at a driver to topple Verstappen and take the checkered flag in Brazil. In his 5 full seasons as a driver in F1, he has yet to win a race, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had a few close calls. His 5th place run in Mexico last time out broke a run of 4 straight races landing on the podium, so he is definitely worth a look as a top 3 finisher on Sunday.

A season that started with so much promise for Sergio Perez (+1575), who won 2 of the first 4 races of the year, has somewhat fizzled out ever since. Perez has failed to reach those heights and has now gone 5 straight races without landing on the podium. There is always the chance that he will find a return to form over the final 3 races of the season, but he is still very much a longshot in my mind.
