When it comes to individual sports, fans tend to fall into two distinct categories.
There are some who love to watch an athlete dominate and break all sorts of records, and then there are those who like to see a good championship battle.

My 2024 Dutch Grand Prix Analysis
After a couple of years of total dominance from Max Verstappen in F1, we might finally be getting a real title race this season, although that could change quickly.
We will find out soon enough if things are going to get tighter at the top, as the next race on the Formula 1 schedule comes this weekend in the Netherlands.
The odds are now live and perhaps closer than some of us may have expected, so let’s take a look at the current favorites.
^Max Verstappen, F1 Pick +174
Are we finally seeing a shift in the balance of power in Formula 1? It might still be too soon to tell for sure, but it has been a hot minute since we have failed to see Verstappen take a checkered flag for the stretch that he is on right now.
As it stands, he has failed to win the last 4 races and has only been on the podium once during that time.
The good news for the champ is that he was winning regularly in the early part of the season, so he still has a 78-point lead at the top of the driver standings.
This could be the race where he snaps out of it, though, as he has won in the Netherlands in each of the last 3 years.
Still, his current form suggests that it might not be that easy.
^Lando Norris, F1 Pick +174
This has been a breakout season for Norris, who picked up his first ever F1 win in Miami earlier in the year, but is he ready to seriously challenge for the World Championship?
He is certainly doing his best to make a run, but he needs to find a way to win on a more consistent basis if he is to get over the top.
The reality is that he cannot rely on Verstappen failing to win every week, as the champ is going to break out of that slump at some point.
Norris has not really been much of a factor in the Netherlands over the years, but he has been strong this season, so I would definitely look for a top 3 finish.
^Oscar Piastri, F1 Pick +600
This is only the second full season in F1 for Piastri, but it is definitely a breakthrough season.
He is currently sitting 4th overall and has been on the podium in back-to-back races, including a win in Hungary.
Definitely worth a look as a potential top 3 finisher this weekend.
^Lewis Hamilton, F1 Pick +750
Finally, I think we really need to take a look at Hamilton, as he appears to be getting back to the form that made him a multiple time World Champion.
Hamilton has won 2 of the last 3 races, finishing on the podium in the other race during that stretch, and looks to me to be a good bet for a top 3 finish in the Netherlands this weekend.

2023 Dutch Grand Prix
With the race for the Formula 1 World Championship now over, you might well wonder why you should bother watching the remaining races this season. While some will certainly tune out, there are plenty more racing fans who love the idea of watching history in the making. Heading into the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend, Max Verstappen has the championship all locked up, but he has some other things in his sight. Most notably, he will be looking to tie a record this weekend, which we will get into in a moment when we talk more about Verstappen and his chances of winning this race. For the other drivers and constructors, it’s all about finishing the season strong and building some momentum. With all of that in mind, let’s look ahead to the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix to consider in your F1 betting odds.

Max Verstappen
NASCAR Betting Pick: -400
This is an opportunity for Verstappen to have a pretty spectacular homecoming. While the championship is all but wrapped up and done, Verstappen is still chasing history. The next thing up is matching Sebastien Vettel’s record of 9 straight wins. Verstappen has won 8 in a row ahead of the Sunday race and will almost certainly relish the prospect of tying that record in his home country. As great as all of that is, his overall record this season is also unbelievable, as he has won 10 of 12 races, finishing 2nd in the other 2. It’s obvious that his chances of winning here are high, and when you combine that with the fact that he has won this race in each of the last 2 seasons suggests that a victory is all but certain.
Sergio Perez
NASCAR Betting Pick: +850
Even if Verstappen can’t win and tie the record, Perez could get the win and continue the clean sweep for Red Bull Racing this season. In the 2 races that Verstappen failed to win this season, it was his Red Bull teammate Perez, who took the checkered flag. My feeling here, though, is that Perez will be more likely to play the role of the good teammate and help Verstappen equal that record, but I could well be wrong about that. Perez has been on the podium in 3 of the last 4 races, so another podium finish seems the best bet.
Lando Norris + Lewis Hamilton
NASCAR Betting Pick: +142 / +1450
Let’s close out our preview by looking at a pair of British drivers that could potentially be battling it out for a spot on the podium. As you can see by the odds, the bookies have these two as being pretty evenly matched, so the starting positions might well play a role in how both of these drivers end up finishing the Dutch Grand Prix.
Norris saw a streak of 2 straight podium finishes comes to a close last time out in Belgium and given that he was 7th in this race last season, he is definitely a bit of a longshot. Hamilton is on a long stretch of races without a win and has been on the podium 4 times this season, although not in the last 2 races. Bit of a coin flip here, but I’d be more inclined to put Hamilton in the top 3 here.
