We are in the early stages of another long Formula 1 season, with fans of the sport wondering if this will be the year when we see Max Verstappen’s stranglehold on the sport come to an end
MyBookie Formula Racing | 2024 Formula 1 Japan Grand Prix
He has won 3 straight World Championships, and other than his first title, which came in rather controversial circumstances, it really hasn’t been close. With Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes, a relationship that will come to an end after this season, unable to compete with Red Bull Racing, it now seems as though the Championship is Verstappen’s to lose. That said, the standings are a little tighter at the top of the driver standings than expected after 3 races, but there is a reason for that, which we will get into in a moment. The Japanese Grand Prix goes this coming Sunday, so who will be victorious at the end? Let’s take a closer look at the current F1 odds.

Max Verstappen f1 race odds -500
After the controversy of his first World Championship, where many believed he won it unfairly, Verstappen seems to be on a mission to prove everyone one wrong in the most impactful way possible. His 2nd championship was good, but what he delivered last season was nothing short of total domination. It was very much business as usual to start the season, with Verstappen winning the opening 2 races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Just when we thought it was the start of another runaway victory season, Verstappen was forced to retire in Australia, which meant picking up zero points and allowing the chasing pack to edge closer. He has won in back-to-back seasons in Japan, so every reason to think Verstappen will bounce back this week.

Sergio Perez f1 race odds +1200
It has been a pretty impressive start to the season for Red Bull Racing, with Verstappen in first overall and his teammate, Sergio Perez, currently sitting in 3rd. Perez had to settle for 2nd in the opening 2 races of the season behind Verstappen, but he did manage to finish in Australia, albeit outside of the top 3, finishing 5th in that race. All of that leaves Perez on 46 points, just 5 back of the champions, but can he keep that momentum going this weekend? While he was forced to retire in Japan last year, he did land on the podium in the year prior.

Other Drivers To Consider
Had he not been forced to withdraw from the second race of the season, Carlos Sainz Jr. (+1300), might well be at the top of the driver standings. He finished on the podium in the first race of the season and then won the Australian Grand Prix, giving him a grand total of 40 points.
We also need to talk about Charles Leclerc (+1300), as he has been getting progressively better with each race this season. He started out with a 4th place finish in Bahrain before making the podium with a 3rd place finish in Saudi Arabia. He then followed that up with a 2nd place run in Australia. If he can continue that trend, he might well take the checkered flag on Sunday in Japan.

2023 Japanese Grand Prix Odds
With the World Championship essentially in the books, the remainder of the Formula 1 season is all about individual races and trying to find a few where we might get a surprise. We did see a couple of streaks broken in the latest Grand Prix, which was held in Singapore. Max Verstappen saw his 10-race win streak come to an end, while Red Bull Racing lost their chance of a clean sweep on the season, with Carlos Sainz upsetting the apple cart in Singapore. This weekend, F1 will be in Japan for the next race on the schedule. This is the first of the 7 races remaining in the season, but you do have to wonder how it will play out. Will Verstappen take his foot off the gas and open the door for another driver or is he going to bounce back from a poor showing in Singapore to get back on the podium? Let’s check out the current F1 odds.

Max Verstappen
Given how things have gone this season, it was more than a little surprising to look at the winner’s podium in Singapore and not see Verstappen standing on there. It was, in fact, the first time he finished outside of the top 2 this season, while also snapping the 10-race winning streak that we discussed earlier. If truth be told, though, it really should not have come as a major surprise when you consider that the Singapore track also gave him problems last season, when he finished 7th in that race. The big question now is whether he can get back to winning ways in the Japanese Grand Prix. He won this race last year, so I would suggest that his chances look good.
Other Drivers to Consider
While Sergio Perez (+1300) is having his most successful season in terms of wins, with 2, it has been a minute since he last took a checkered flag. His last 2 in came in the 4th race of the season, and while he hasn’t won since, he has been on the podium 5 times since that last win. He finished 2nd in this race last season, so he is certainly worth a top 3 wager.
It has not been the best season for Lando Norris (+1425), who finds himself down in 8th in the driver standings. Norris has been better of late, though, and has been on the podium in 3 of the last 6 races, with all of those being 2nd place finishes. He just made the top 10 in Japan last season, but his current form suggests a better finish this time around.
The last driver that we are going to look at here is Lewis Hamilton (+2600), who is well off the pace he set when he was winning championships for fun. Despite the fact that he has not won a race in 2022 or 2023, he is still someone that I have a hard time ruling out completely in any race. He is coming off a podium finish last time out, and with a 5th place run in Japan last year, he might be a decent top 3 bet in this one.
