Formula 1 has essentially belonged to Max Verstappen over the past 3 or 4 years, to the point where betting on races was a simple as picking him to win every race.
This season started the same way, but at about the midway point, Red Bull Racing began to have some issues, which resulted in Verstappen being off the pace the rest of the way.

My 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix Analysis
Nowadays, picking a winner is not as straightforward as it used to be, which makes things a good deal more challenging, and may I suggest more fun, too, for those of us who wager on the sport.
It’s going to be a similar story this weekend, with the Mexico City Grand Prix the next race up on the schedule.
Let’s take a look at the current odds for this race, as well as some predictions as we go.
^Charles Leclerc +234
With just 5 races remaining this season, the chances of Leclerc pulling off a miracle and winning the world championship are slim to none, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t be going all out to win.
The proof is very much in the pudding with Leclerc, as this is a guy that has won twice and finished 2nd over the last 4 races on the schedule.
He now has 3 wins this season and is sitting in 3rd overall, albeit well off the pace being set by Verstappen at the top of the driver standings.
Can he win again this weekend? Well, he finished 3rd in this race last season, so there is every reason he will be in the mix.
^Lando Norris +238
With the way things have gone down in the second half of the season, one of the questions that needs to be asked is if we are looking at a future world champion in Lando Norris.
With 5 races to come this season, he is still 57 points behind Verstappen, so the chances of him closing that gap at that late stage of the proceedings does not look great.
He really needs to win out to take the top spot, which seems unlikely when you consider how things have gone in the second half of the season.
Norris finished in the top 5 in Mexico last season, and I think we can expect more of the same this time around.
^Max Verstappen +320
Given that he won 7 races in the early part of the season, the chances are good that Verstappen has done enough to secure another world championship.
While he is not winning of late, he has shown some signs of life with back-to-back podium finishes in the last 2 races.
That’s basically all he needs at this point, and he seems a good bet to be in the top 3 this weekend.

Carlos Sainz Jr +640
Sainz Jr is up among the favorites to win this one, but if we are honest, he is more likely to get a share of spoils as opposed to winning.
Carlos has won this season, but that came way back in the 3rd race of the season, but he is coming off a 2nd place finish in the US Grand Prix, so perhaps he can parlay that into another podium finish.

2023 Mexico City Grand Prix: While the race for the Formula 1 World Championship may already be settled, there are still some battles to be fought. F1 Odds and Lines | MyBookie Sportsbook
The biggest question right now is whether Lewis Hamilton can overtake Sergio Perez and claw his way into 2nd place in the standings, which would break up Red Bull Racing’s quest to have their drivers finish in the top 2. From a betting standpoint, there are still 4 races to come, so plenty of opportunities to wager and win some money. That first opportunity will come this weekend with the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix, which is garnering headlines for all the wrong reasons, which is something we will discuss more in a moment. For now, let’s take a look at the current F1 odds and who might end up taking the checkered flag on Sunday.

Max Verstappen
This has been another brilliant season for Verstappen, who has won 15 of the 18 races we have had to this point. While he comes into this weekend as the clear favorite to win the Mexico City Grand Prix, he does so under a little bit of a cloud. F1 officials have requested more security for the World Champion after some online threats emerged. Most of this stemmed from the perceived unfair treatment of Sergio Perez, Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull Racing. It is perhaps no surprise that things would become more tense ahead of this race, which is being held in the home nation of Perez. For his part, Verstappen seems totally unphased by all of it and is solely focused on winning yet another race. He has won this one in the last 2 years and looks set to make it 3 in a row.

Other Drivers to Consider
While it has been a long time, at least by his standards, since he last won a race, Lewis Hamilton (+830) has moved into 3rd overall in the driver standings. This despite failing to pick up a single point in each of the last 2 races. There is a reason he is rated as highly by the bookies this weekend, which is that he has finished 2nd behind Verstappen in back-to-back races in Mexico City.

While some fans may be unhappy with how Red Bull is handling Sergio Perez (+870), the fact of the matter is that he has cooled off dramatically after a start to the season that saw him win 2 of the first 4 races. We saw something of a return to form in the US Grand Prix, where he finished 4th, but what will he do in front of fans that are almost certainly going to be rooting for him to win? He landed on the podium in Mexico in each of the last 2 seasons.

Another driver to consider is Lando Norris (+1625), but as you can see from the odds, the bookies have him well behind the other 3 drivers that we have discussed to this point. Norris has been on the podium in 4 straight races now, and while he did not have a great time of it in Mexico last season, his current form suggests he may be worth looking at for a top 3 finish.
